joy's eyes fluttered open and the first thing she saw was the usual white ceiling of her room. as she stared, she had flashbacks of yesterday and felt glum right away. taking a very deep breath, she sat up from her bed and clutched her head from the mild migraine she felt.

she groaned and forced herself out of her bed. she headed to the bathroom to wash her face and did the other things she needed to do before having her breakfast. with a hot cup of coffee in her hand, she walked towards her apartment balcony and gazed at the city waking up to start another new day.

then, she heard a ding from her phone, signaling that she had gotten a text message. grabbing it, she checked the sender and her heart skipped a beat momentarily.

kim taehyung, was the name that popped on her screen. opening the message, she read the words in her head; good morning joy, how was your sleep?

unknown to her, the corners of her mouth slightly turned upwards. tapping on her screen, she typed it was alright, how about you? and sent it. as she did, she heard a faint ding and her head turned sharply to her right. to her right, she saw kim taehyung staring at her from his own balcony. he sat on a chair in comfy clothes with his phone in his hands. when their eyes met, he smiled and then sat up. 

"mornin'" he said in his deep, morning voice that it somehow sent a tiny chill down joy's spine.

a little shaken, joy blushed and nodded her head, embarrassed that she got caught smiling. "good morning." she said meekly. "how long have you been there?"

"half an hour ago." taehyung replied nonchalantly. "how are you feeling?"

joy glanced at her feet and stared. honestly, she wasn't sure of the answer to his question herself. she felt numb. "tired." joy muttered softly. 

taehyung bit his lower lip and scrutinized the girl in front of him before quickly saying, "do you have any plans today?"

joy shook her head, "no." 

"great," taehyung grinned. "wanna go out?"

"excuse me?" joy became startled, her eyes wide. "you want to what?"

"oh you know, go out and enjoy." he shrugged, a rising excitement evident in his tone. "it's a good day today. maybe it'll cheer you up."

she scrunched her eyebrows, pondering for a minute. she thought about spending the day with him and felt reluctant, but at the same time a little thrilled. she had nothing to do all day but stay home. but if she came, it might be awkward. after all, they had history. but what if they can be friends again? maybe it can be an opportunity to clear up the tension between them. and like taehyung said, maybe going out can bring her mood up after the yesterday's events. finally, joy nodded hesitantly.

"okay, i'll come."

taehyung grinned wide. "great!" he exclaimed. "see you in half an hour?"

"uhm actually, maybe an hour or so?" joy suggested. "i need time to get ready."

"oh right! girls need more time to get dressed up." taehyung laughed, his excitement getting to him.

breaking into a smile, joy laughed with him.
