I slept for over 24 hours. When I woke up I was still weak and starving. Reaching up to the base of my neck my fingers brushed my mates mark sending tingles to run down my spine. It had completely healed but was still sore. Chris's scent was in the room but not strongly. I remember him laying me down but with it being so faint he must have left and not come back. Slowly I got out of bed and headed to the shower. I had to wash the sweat off of me. I took longer than I should have to enjoy the heat. Which considering the inferno that burned through my body you would think I wouldn't but it helped to relax all my muscles. I was feeling guilty for the way my wolf goaded Chris into my mark. I needed to find him and apologize. Plus I wanted to check on him to see how he was doing. I knew he wasn't ready but the horny bitch wouldn't heel.
Making my way downstairs Athena and Leo were on the couch watching a movie. When she saw me enter the room she jumped up. "You're awake! How are you feeling"
"I'm fine where is Chris I need to talk to him"
They exchanged a look which made me worry "What's wrong"
Leo looked at me "No one has seen him since the night before last"
A feeling of dread settled into the pit of my stomach. "Can you link him, Leo"
"I've tried but he has me blocked."
"I was so scared this would happen" I grabbed my necklace and started to rub it. I swear if anything happened to him because of me I would just die.
Athena came to my side "What do you mean Willow"
I looked up and caught the worry in her eyes. I didn't know what to say so I grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled it aside showing my mark. I looked at them both as shock sunk in both their faces. "We need to find him, Leo! What if something happened to him?" The darkness was rising in me and an alarming rate. Was it just mine or was it his too. I had really no idea how this mate thing worked since no one ever took the time to teach me. My body was starting to tremble so I wrapped my arms around myself afraid I would fall apart. Water dripped onto my arms and I realized I was crying.
Athena grabbed my shoulders but when I wouldn't look at her she lifted my face. "Willow you need to calm down. Listen to me. You bear his mark. Now close your eyes and see if you can still feel him. Can you still feel the mates bond?"
"How is that going to help"
"Because if you can still feel the bond than he is still here. We would just need to find him."
I closed my eyes desperately hoping to feel him. "Athena I can't do this"
"Yes, you can Willow. Try again. Picture Chris, remember the way his heartbeats, his scent." I shook my head "I know you can do this Willow. Try"
I closed my eyes and thought about him. All she said and more. My wolf took off running and started to prance in a circle. There it was. "I can feel it. But I can't grasp it. Like its just out of reach"
Athena and Leo let out a breath they had apparently been holding. Linking to the warriors of the pack Leo told them the gist what was going on and that they needed to search for their Alpha. "I want to help look for him"
Athena started "Well that wouldn't be.." but Leo cut her off. "Absolutely not. Outside of the manor, you aren't safe. We will find him Willow but you need to stay here"
"Leo"
"No Willow. If anything would happen to you Chris would kill me. Athena take her upstairs. I'm going to go search."
"I will help Hunny. I can ask around town if anyone has seen him" With a nod of approval from him she started to push me towards the steps."Come on Willow lets go" as she walked me up Leo linked her Athena lock her in.
What No Leo
Yes. Its the only way I know she will be safe.
Leo, she will hate me. I can't do that to her.
Yes, you can and she will only hate you for a little bit.
She took me over to the bed and laid me down. "Get some rest, Willow. We will find him and everything will be alright" nodding my head she left the room but didn't look back at me. I got a bad feeling then I heard the door lock. I jumped out of bed. "No No Athena Please." I started pounding on the door but got no response. Sobs tore from my body as a turned my back to the door and sunk to the floor. She locked me in. Anxiety rose in my throat threatening to choke me. I laid my head on my arms and let the tears flow. Where did he go?
I replayed every moment we have had together since I arrived. When I got to the time we were at that little lake nestled in the woods my head snapped up. I know where he is. I jumped up and started to pound on the door. "Let me out I know where he is I need to go to him" The more I focused on him the more I realized that the anxiety I was feeling wasn't just mine it was his too. I pressed my ear to the door and couldn't hear anyone in the house. I stepped back to the bed and ran at the door full force ramming my shoulder into it just to be knocked back down. I got up and did it again with the same result. I tried three more times before I just laid there. What the hell was this door made of? My need to go to Chris was becoming unbearable. I could feel my wolf growling and become very antsy. I closed my eyes and let her take over.
Bones breaking and coming back together filled the air as I shifted. My wolf was stronger than I was and each time she charged the door it cracked. After a few tries, we broke through earning a nice scrape down our side from the splintered wood. Charging downstairs the door was closed and we repeated the process of ramming the door until it broke open. Pausing for a brief moment thinking over the consequences for my actions I shoke out my fur and charged towards town sticking to the wood line. Finding the spot I ran in that night after fighting with Bella I ran as fast as my legs would go. I remembered the path I took his scent becoming stronger. I picked up my speed and ran faster than I ever had before. I needed to get to him.
Cresting the top of the hill that housed the secret lake I looked down into the small valley searching for him. Sure enough there he lay in his wolf form. I ran down the hill watching him. He didn't move or turn his head. I started to hesitate. What if I was too late? When I was a few feet from him he lifted his head with such misery shining in his eyes. I laid down and belly crawled to him showing that I wasn't here to cause him any harm. He turned his head back towards the lack and laid it down on his paws. I nuzzled his neck with my nose waiting. Laying down next to him my body was soaking up his heat and the darkness was slowly receding. We laid in silence for hours before he finally shifted and spoke to me.
