"AL ARE YOU OKAY," a familiar voice called. Looking over your shoulder, you saw sans, Papyrus, Undyne, Skyla, and Frisk hurrying to you guys. Undyne seemed the most distressed as she was ahead of everyone. "What happened," Undyne asked darting glances from you to Alphys.

"Two boys were picking on her," you explained quickly, excluding your rescue. Studying Alphys as she shivered and hiccuped, slowly calming down. It wasn't about you right now.

"God dang it Alphys," Undyne muttered clenching a fist, "How many times have I told you to stay by me?" Her tone coming off as angry, when it was dripping with fear and concern. It reminded you of your mother, whenever you would sneak off the roof to fly.

"A lot," Alphys said wiping her tears away with her hands.

"And what do you do? You walk away from me," Undyne sighed.

"I thought I was fine," Alphys argued. A small silence ran across the group. As Alphys stared at her claws, getting lost in her thoughts as did everyone else. Ever since the barrier was broken for the monsters, they have been dealing with nothing but trouble. Humans were always a stubborn species, who hated change. Monsters were insulted, beaten, and discriminated. When they did nothing wrong, all they wanted was a happy life on the surface. They wanted to see the stars. They wanted to fly in a real sky. A small frown appeared on your face at this thought. They just wanted to be fine. "An- anyways [Y- [Y- [Y/N] came an- and protected me," Alphys added finally breaking the silence. You kept your gaze towards Alphys, although you could feel the stares of the others on your back.

"[Y/N] did you really help her," Undyne questioned. Being completely serious as she used your real name instead of the term 'punk'. You glanced up to see her eyes, well eye. The obsidian orb resting in the bright yellow of her eye was unrelentingly staring at you. While there was a slight movement under her fabric eyepatch. You turned away, unable to look at her any longer as Alphys finally let you go. Now standing beside the others with her books in her arms.

"Yeah," you sighed scratching the back of your head.

Silence.

Just pure silence.

One of the most terrible sounds in the universe. There could be so many meanings within this void of no sound. Sadness--tears quietly rolling down someone's face. Happiness-- a smile creeping onto someone's face as they were left amazed. Guilt-- thoughts spinning around in their head. Realization-- pieces in a puzzle finally connecting. Fear-- someone covering their mouth as they hide in the closet. It was the worst especially when you're the cause of it. For once you thought you did something right. Something that finally appeased someone. However, as the silence thickened, your hopes dropped. Why the hell would I do anything right, you thought. As if they were going to smile and cheer me on for helping Alphys. I'm not even really their frien-

Suddenly you were engulfed in a hug, sending you to quick panic. You snapped your head to the unknown figure, only to get a face full of red hair. Allowing you to connect the dots, that it was Undyne hugging you. You slowly put your arms around her, giving her a small squeeze. Panic dissipating.

"Thank you for helping her," Undyne whispered in your ear as she tightened her grip a little. You felt your panic sharply inclining. The faint whisper and the strong whispering, reminding you of a certain unwanted shadow. Lightly you pushed Undyne off you with a forced smile. Putting your slightly shaky hands in your pockets, unnoticed.

"Heh. Of course, I was going to help her," you smiled, "Science would be so boring without her." You noticed how smiles slowly began to raise on everyone's faces. Gradually making the worry and concern disappear.

"hey i'm there too," sans whined in a playful manner.

"No your not," you joked with a wink, "you've got nobody so, you can't be there." A chuckle escaped sans and Frisk as Skyla and Papyrus groaned.

"[Y/N] that was so bad," your sister whined. Running her hand down her face sighing loudly.

"I HAVE TO AGREE WITH THE TINY [Y/N]," Papyrus agreed as he nodded. Folding his arms across his chest. Tiny [Y/N], you thought stifling a laugh with your hand. Briefly imagining your sister in your tough and dark clothing instead of bright and childish clothing.  It would be as if you swapped personalities or something.

"Hey [Y/N] we're planning on going to get some food," Undyne said, "Why don't you come with us? As a treat for protecting Alphys and for your win in L.A." A smile grew on your face as the memory of the first day in class with Undyne flashed in your head. It's been so long since then. You glanced at the others who all voiced their agreements, well frisk nodded furiously with a thumbs up. You began to open your mouth when you noticed the astronomy book in sans arm.

"I can't," you trailed off quietly, "I'm working." A faint nervous laugh escaping you as you fiddled with the leather of your watch. You hated letting people know that you worked. And now your 'friends' knew which was simply great.

"YOU WORK," Papyrus questioned tilting his head a bit. Quietly you nodded, not making eye contact by pretending to stretch. However, from the corner of your eye, you could see a light shock and wonder on their faces. While sans was simply himself, already knowing beforehand about your working status-- though he didn't know about the number of jobs you had.

"I'm very sorry," you trailed off, "I would've loved to join yo-"

"You can go," an unknown voice said behind you, cutting you off. You turned to find your boss, Willow standing with your forgotten cart. Your eyes widening a bit at your boss's statement. Your mind swimming in confusion.

"But boss what about my shift," you questioned taking a step forward. Hands in front of you in a 'yo what the fuck' manner. Before you could continue to advance, your boss told you to stop with a raised hand. Which you did absentmindedly, being brainwashed to follow commands by a certain shadow.

"[Y/N] your my best worker," Willow stated staring at you with her green eyes, "You never use your vacation or sick days. You take other people's hours when they need to do something. You work hard and diligently. Not to mention, that you helped improve the arrangement of the library and storytime for the children. I think we can handle one day without you."

"But-"

"But nothing, you will still be getting paid," Willow ended cutting you off with a stern look, "Now shoo I have some books to put away." Turning away with your cart and leaving you baffled. You stood there watching her back with your hand out. Until she turned down the aisle between j-l and m-o. A brief smirk on her face before fully disappearing.

"Willow," you sighed quietly to yourself, dropping your hands.

Taking a deep breath, collecting yourself silently. Willow was always a hard worker and she hated slacking. Which increased your surprise when she let you off of work but, that smirk she gave you. An old memory flashed in your head, making you quietly chuckle at the inside joke. That bitch. Slowly, you brought a hand up to brush the few stray [h/c] hairs from in front of your eyes back. Taking one last breath, before turning to the others with a large smile and a bright glim in your eye.

"Where are we off to gang," you asked.
