You and sans were now approaching the school. Throughout the entire walk, there was nothing but silence. It wasn't awkward or anything. After everything, you've been through in your life. Accidentally grabbing someone's hand was on the bottom of your list, for reasons to be awake at 3 in the morning. The silence was simply...
Uncomfortable.
Yet, you still stood strong and walked on. Stepping towards your tree that sat in the schoolyard. Like always, you made sure your backpack was secure over your shoulders and resting firmly on your hip. You stopped a couple of steps and took a deep breath, closing your eyes. Causing sans steps to halt in confusion.
"why did you st-"
You opened you eyes and ran straight towards the tree. You placed one foot on the oak brown wood and pushed up, reaching the closest branch. Grabbing it with ease and holding on. Swiftly pulling yourself up, dragging the rest of your body over. You sighed and leaned against it, looking down. Finding sans with a slacked jaw as he stared in awe.
"Best close that," you chuckled, "You don't want any flies flying in do ya?" Propping up one leg and other dangling over the edge, into your usual position. sans quickly closed his jaw as he shook his he lightly. Rubbing his head with his hand as if he was rubbing his eyebrows, which, he doesn't have.
"how did you do that," he asked astonished, removing his hand. Revealing widened eye sockets as he peered up at you. At least the silence finally ended, you thought.
"You just watched me do it," you teased with a smirk, "Do I really need to explain?"
"that's not what i'm talking about," he groaned slightly as he neared you. You laughed quietly, looking off into the distance as the sounds of voices were in the distance. Students were now pouring into the schoolyard.
"Well, that was the answer to your question."
"no it's not."
"I'm so sorry to leave you stumped," you joked, peeking at sans. Most people didn't like puns, however, sans had a large grin plastered on his face.
"did you just say a pun," he questioned a bit eagered.
"Why was it that punny," you said innocently, knowing that it would answer his question and rally up a reaction. He broke out into laughter, trying to use his hand to muffle it. Yet, it still rang through. His laugh was smooth and a bit deeper than you expected. It had a comforting feeling behind it.
"that's a good one kid," he smiled as he calmed down, "looks like i finally found someone who enjoys puns." You really did enjoy puns. Your mother used to tell them to you when you were younger. They would always make you laugh and smile, even when you didn't want to.
"THE HUMAN LIKES PUNS," a loud voice inquired loudly. You lifted your head higher, to find Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys walking towards you.
"yeah it seems to tickle their funny bone," sans replied. You stifled a laugh as you bit your lip slightly.
"NOOOOO," Papyrus groaned as he threw his hands up in playful anger. Causing your laughter to break from its cage, proudly.
It wasn't the prettiest laugh, unlike most girls. It was rather loud and annoying, in your opinion but it felt great doing it. Laughter was always a thing to appreciate. The others joined your contagious laughter, making it a chorus of laughter. A mixture of high pitches and deeper pitches, making it sound joyous. After what felt like hours instead of 3 minutes, everyone's lungs whether they were existent or not were burning, so we all stopped and gasped for air.
"Oh my god," you chuckled a bit between breaths remembering Papyrus's actions, "that was priceless." You let out a loud sigh wiping away a tear, indicating that you were done. You scanned everyone's faces to see nothing but, smiles and pure happiness. It felt good but...
It felt strange at the same time.
Throughout the past few years in your life. It was nothing but, anger and hatred. Glares from your father and looks of belittlement from strangers. Along with a string of hits and discrimination. However, these guys...
