You winced loudly as you straightened up, gritting your teeth harshly and squeezing your eyes shut. Your left hand flew to your back attempting to ease the sharp shooting pain. While your right hand tightly gripped the last brown bottle from the floor. God damn it, you thought bitterly your head tilting back slightly. You took deep breaths through your teeth, waiting for the pain to fade.
After a couple of minutes of looking like a senior citizen who threw their back out. You padded over to the small kitchen. The countertops had black lines swimming through the amber brown sea. On top of the chestnut cupboards and drawers-- that held the utensils, spices, cleaning supplies, snacks, and other stuff. The appliances in the kitchen were quite old and worn, having never been changed for years. The lights would sometimes flicker in the microwave, the fridge would randomly decide to leak out water, and the oven always smelt like something was burning. However, it was one of your favorite places in the house. You dropped the bottle into the recycle bin that sat beside the trash. Before drumming your fingers against the small circle table covered with an ugly floral tablecloth. Your eye scanning the puppy calendar, finding the date which had a big flower on it. You scrunched up the cloth beneath your hand, slamming your eyes shut.
It's today...
~Flashback starts ~
"It's today! It's today," you cheered loudly punching up into the air repeatedly. Bouncing excitedly in place, spinning around in circles. Making your slightly large [f/c] pajama dress lifting up a bit, revealing your black shorts underneath. As well as your messy [h/c] hair to constantly swipe over your eyes. Allowing you to catch glimpses of the dim sunlight rising from the kitchen window.
"Shhh [Y/N]," your father whispered with a finger placed onto his smiling lips, "You're going to wake them up." You quickly gasped and slammed both of your hands over your mouth. Freezing in place as your eyes widened into the size of saucers. Quickly eyeing the hall for a couple of seconds, trying to see if you have woken them up. However, all you heard was the ticking of the clock.
"But we can't let them wake up or it'll ruin the surprise," you debated quietly as you peeled your hands from your mouth.
"Yeah, so we gotta be quiet okay," he advised. You nodded strongly and harshly with a large grin on your face. Until you felt your head hurt from your small whiplash, placing a small hand on your head as you groaned. Your dad chuckled softly with adoring and loving gaze on you, softly rubbing your head to help the pain. "Now come on, these pancakes aren't going to make themselves," he beamed walking to the cupboards to grab the pancake mix.
~Flashback ends~
You let out a shaky sigh as you slowly let go. Peeling your eyes open with a dull look, your brows furrowing slightly while you eyed the date. Taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out before plastering a small smile onto your face. Turning away quickly and began to work on the sweet, flat, and fluffy breakfast to be drenched in syrup later.

"Come on Sky," you called as you tapped your foot gently. Leaning against the doorframe, pulling your attention from the wings in the sky. Dropping your gaze to the hall hoping to see a small girl run over to you dressed and ready.
"Give me a second," she shouted back, making you sigh loudly.
Dropping your head onto the wood as an idea suddenly popped into your head. Making a small giggle escape from between your lips. Softly brushing your jean jacket out your way, you began to search in your small black messenger bag. It was a substitute for today due to the fact that it looked a lot cleaner than your worn-out satchel. With a small triumph cheer in your head, you pulled a pen and small sticky note. Quickly scribbling something onto yellow sticky, a small smirk growing onto your face. As you were putting the pen back into your bag, a small head girl came racing over to you.
