[Y/N] POV
You placed your empty cup onto the tray, sighing peacefully. You really needed that. The warm liquid soothing and calming your body. As well as your mind and emotions, that have been racing wildly since the previous day. People care a lot about you, more than you think, echoed in your head again, and we're going to help you through this. Making you let out an unsteady breath as you clenched your jaw lightly. Holding onto the small pieces left of your mask, trying not to cry again.
I'm going to get help, you told yourself. The words feeling wrong as they entered your mind. You closed your eyes and let your head fall back onto John's couch. Am I really going to get help, you asked doubtfully. Help has always been a dream for you, having lost its meaning a long time ago. And here it was now, being dangled in front of your face like a cat toy. Shining and beautiful yet, cruel and taunting when it was snatched from your grasp. You sighed again and pushed back the stray hairs on your head. I shouldn't get my hopes up, you thought, it'll only hurt more when it doesn't wo-
Suddenly a loud ring ripped through the air, snapping you out of your thoughts. You opened your eyes and lifted your head up. Turning to the direction of the noise that you thought sounded familiar.
"Ah, sorry about that," John apologized standing up from the couch. Quickly making his way to the kitchen, where the source of the noise lies. He stopped beside your husband, who was most likely going to file for divorce. John reached onto the counter, smiling as he lifted up his phone. "Someone's calling me," he explained. Displaying the screen, showing that someone was calling him. However, before you could read the name of the caller John had already lowered it. Your eyes followed him as he moseyed into the small hall that wasn't too far from you and Skyla.
"Hello," John answered the phone. Back towards the both of you, listening to the other person. You strained to listen to their conversation, feeling that is had to deal with you or some other serious matter.
Usually, you wouldn't intrude on someone else's conversation. However, it was weird for John to leave after picking up the phone around you and Skyla. Normally, he would just answer it in front of you guys without a care in the world. Feeling comfortable with you two listening in after knowing you guys for years. He only left when it was something serious or wanted to hide from you. The last time this happened was during your birthday a couple of years ago. When he tried to throw a surprise party for you in the cafe.
"I'm in my apartment right now," John replied to the unknown person. Shifting his weight onto his other foot, scratching his brown fluffy hair. "Why did you want to know," he questioned.
It was quite difficult to follow the discussion. After all, you were only getting one side of the chat, and even with that, it was small bits. None of John's replies gave you any information about the mystery person. Nor did it notify you about what was so serious that he didn't answer it on the couch.
"Ah, crap I completely forgot to tell you guys," he said loudly hitting his face with his hand. Groaning at himself as he slid it down his face. "I'm with them now," he clarified clearly, finally giving you some information. It was now obvious that they were chatting about you and your sister. You peeked over at Skyla, who sat beside you. Oblivious to the world around her, focused only on the show in front of her.
"WHAT," a loud staticky voice exclaimed. You turned your attention back onto John, seeing him hold his phone away from his ear. Allowing you to hear the slightly feminine tone in the other voice. Along with multiple other voices in the background, meaning that the caller wasn't alone. Maybe John had plans before you and Skyla came to his place demanding food. It would've explained why the shop was closed and why he was dressed. Hesitantly, John put the phone back onto his ear.
