Your next period felt like it took forever. Not only was L.A  extremely boring, due to the fact that you had to write your DBQ. But, memories of your past swam through your head. Moments of your mother trying to teach you how to fly. To moments of her singing you and your sister to sleep. To another moment where she built a snowman with you. You simply wanted it to stop. However, the silence of the room wasn't helping. Allowing you to hear the ticking of the clock and the faint sound of your mother's laugh. When the bell rang it was like heaven to your ears. You quickly left the classroom without a word to Undyne. You made a straight b-line to the roof, you needed air fast.

You burst through the door and gasped loudly, breathing in the fresh air. You crouched down and covered your face with your hands. Trying to ignore the memories. In the distance, you listened to the cars driving by. The series of honks voicing everyone's frustrated thoughts. The sound of different voices chatting with one another. The sound of the leaves brushing against each other from the breeze. You focused on the sounds outside. Drowning out her faint 'I love yous'.  You stood there until it was gone.

Just like how she was gone.

Finally free from the torment, you uncovered your eyes. Causing the sun to shine into them, making small dots of rainbow to appear in your vision. Nonetheless, you got up and left the roof.  Closing the wooden door behind you and hopping over the gate. Slowly descending the stairs, disregarding the sound of the school bell. You knew you were going to be late. Opening the door into the hall, listening to it shut as you walked away.

Just like how you walked away from your pain.

Your footsteps echoed in the empty halls as you strolled to your class. You could hear the muffled voice of teachers through the doors you passed. Along with the small thump as your bag hit your hip softly with each step. You began to near a door that had a large globe sticker on it. As well as a window and a plack which, had Mr. Jones written on it. You peeked through the small window, seeing that class has started. Everyone was with their partner, talking or reading from the textbook. While sans sat alone, trying to work, however, he seemed a bit distracted. You watched as he would glance up from his book to your empty seat. Tapping his pointer distal phalanx against the desk. You felt slightly bad for making him worry. It was your fault for being late.

Just like it was your fault for her death.

You took a deep breath and opened the door. A few people turned to you, wondering who it was. However, once they saw it was you, they simply scoffed at you. As if it was your fault for wasting their time. You glanced at sans, noticing how he smiled from your arrival. Another new thing.

"Why were you late [Y/N]," Mr. Jones asked causing you to turn towards him. He wore a rigid expression, in an 'I don't have all fucking day' kind of way. His head was tilted onto his hand, which was propped up on his desk.

"One of the security guards were talking to me," you lied with a smile. Pointing behind you with your thumb over your shoulder. Like there was some guard in the hall that you were just talking to. "They wanted to know how Skyla was doing and stuff," you continued shrugging lightly as you put your hand in your pocket. Acting normal and relaxed to help sell it.

Mr. Jones ocean blue eyes scanned you. Trying to find any indication of a lie. However, he came up dry. He huffed in frustration and waved a hand at you, turning back to his work. Signaling that you were off the hook and should get to work. You smirked a bit and moseyed to your seat.

"Hey sans," you greeted as you sat down. Dropping your bag onto the floor, leaning it against the desk.

"hey [Y/N]," sans said, "i was worried that something happened to you."

"Well I'm sorry to pull your leg but, I'm a-okay," you joked as you pretended to pull your leg. sans stifled a laughed with his hand, shaking his head. "What did that tickle your funny bone," you smiled as sans laugh broke through. Listening to the deepness and watching the smile stretch on his face. It made you feel good a little bit.

Just like always you joked your way out.

"Come on let's get to work," you ended. sans nodded in agreement still smiling from before. You began to search through your bag. Pulling out your textbook and notebook so, you could help get information with sans. Without another word, you began to work ignoring the peeks from sans. Along with the glares from your teacher and classmates.

Just like how you ignored yourself...
