"It started on what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life," you started...
~Flashback Start~
"Are you excited dear, " a low voice asked. You tore your gaze from the window, the fluffy blanket of clouds still rolling across the sky in the corner of your (e/c) eyes. The clouds were thin enough that you could make out dim colors of the blue sky above it and the light yellow rays of sunshine. Your eyes met a pair of green eyes framed by black rectangle glasses through the rearview mirror at the front of the car.
"Huh," you puzzled as you tilted your head slightly. Strands of your (h/c) hair slid over your shoulder, kind of tickling the skin underneath the thin mesh material. "What did you say?"
"I asked if you were excited dear," your father repeated with a small chuckle, "you already have your head up in the clouds, don't you?"
"How could I not," you wondered. Your father briefly nodded at your words, his green eyes were understanding and rich with adoration.
He pulled his eyes back to the road as the light changed from red to green again. You heard a small ramble of gibberish beside you and twisted your head to it. Your baby sister, Skyla, sat to your far right in her car seat gently bitting a small set of toy keys. She's so cute, you cooed in your head. A soft smile grew on your face while you turned your gaze back towards the sky. You imagined yourself flying so high that you burst through the fluffy clouds. Finding a large cloud castle where the mighty dragons from your storybooks lived, looking down at the humans below.
"It's so beautiful and grand," you continued, "a place of limitless heights and dreams."
"You sound just like your mother," he smiled. You quickly turned your attention once more towards him at the mention of your mother.
"Where is mommy anyways," you questioned.
Unlike the rest of the car which had a person in each seat, the passenger seat of the vehicle remained empty. Reminding you of the absence of your mother since she wasn't in the car with you, your father, and Skyla. She said that she would be at your flying performance today, however, she never got home after work. She pinkied promised, you thought, you can't break a pinky promise.
"She said she would meet us there," he explained with a sigh," Apparently one of the students needed to retake a test in order to graduate." You couldn't help but, feel a little upset.
"Mommy is always with her students", you angrily mumbled. This wasn't the first time she was late for something. She was constantly late for family game night causing you guys to never finish a full game of (favorite game). Not to mention, she would always come home in the middle of movies so, you would have to start all over. You huffed loudly, the few stray(h/c) hairs on your face gently lift up in frustration and crossed your arms.
"C'mon [Y/N] you know your mother," your father claimed, "she just wants the best for everyone and that includes her students." You shortly nodded knowing that was true.
Your mother was indeed kind-hearted and helped anyone that needed it. She would help the seniors at the nursing home from time to time and give money to the poor. She supported John when he needed money to buy his shop and help Mr. Smith get his job at the school. However, that didn't completely smooth out your anger as the car pulled into your school parking lot. The three of you exited the car and you waved goodbye to your father as you left to join the other kids.
"I'll see you in the air sweetheart," your father cheered, "knock them dead!"
