Before the bell rang for lunch to be over, you were already in class. Sitting at your desk which was always the same in all your classes. In the very back beside the window. You didn't plan for it to be like this. Actually, at the beginning of the year, you tried to sit in the front. However, as time passed your seat slowly moved farther back, where it was safer. The bell suddenly rang, snapping you out of your thoughts and daydreams. In the distance, you could hear the faint sound of different voices remixing and making a song of chaos. You sighed folded your arms on top of your desk and rested your head. Peeking through your hood as your classmates filed in and took their seats. Everyone was chatting in groups or pairs well except you. You felt something dark rise in you but, you pushed it down and sat up.
"Alright see you later punks," a voice yelled, your eyes landed on the tall fish lady as she waved out the door. You searched in your mind for this figure, however, you were drawing blanks until she turned around. Your eyes caught on the black eye patch, her name is Undyne. You remembered how she was angry towards others for staring, so you turned to the window. I don't need any more enemies, at least not this soon. The whole class grew quiet, allowing you to hear a quiet and faint growl until it trailed off. You heard footsteps come marching towards you. Damn it what did I do? Did she think I was being rude or insulting? Man, I'm so dead, you worried in your head. When in reality you were calm and stable, not showing a single hint of your distress.
After doing this so often, you became a pro...
You turned and pretended like you were surprised by the scary fish lady standing over you. She was staring into you as if you had an entire cake smeared on your face. However, you acted like it was okay and leaned back.
"You know if you take a picture it will last longer," you joked smiling a bit dark. You didn't know why she was staring at you but, you didn't like it. Did she know that I'm the freak? Is she here to make fun of me? However, your thoughts shifted a bit when a saw a smile grew on her face and she stuck a hand out.
"Names Undyne punk. What about you," she said as you wearily took her hand and shook. You weren't going to lie but, this felt nice. Being considered a normal human being but...
You knew it wasn't going to last long...
"Names [Y/N]," you answered as the teacher came in, walking straight to his desk.
"Okay everybody take your seat," Mr. Lopez ordered as he placed his bag on top of his desk. Everyone followed his direction and sat down while, Mr. Lopez shuffled through his bag, probably looking for his agenda. Undyne just stood beside you due to her not knowing where to sit. For a couple of minutes, the entire class sat in awkward silence with the occasional sound of papers rubbing against each other. Thinking that it was enough, Undyne lifted a hand to her mouth and cleared her throat, loudly. Which caught Mr. Lopez's attention as he snapped towards her. "Oh, it seems that we have a new student," he admitted as he rushed over to Undyne with a hand out, "Hello, I'm Mr. Lopez."
"Undyne," she replied as they shook.
"You may take a seat anywhere," Mr. Lopez said as he went back to his desk. Undyne then took a seat right beside you, sending you a large grin. "AH HA," Mr. Lopez exclaimed as he held his agenda up in victorious. You shook your head and sighed, this man would lose his head if it wasn't attached to him. Everyone laughed at Mr. Lopez's silliness which, was the best thing about him."Alright class," Mr. Lopez called as he flipped through his book stopping at a page with a pointed finger. "We will be writing poetry today with a little twist," he cheered. After hearing the word poetry a chorus of groans, mumbles, and quiet curses spread in the room. "Everyone will write a couple of short poems WITHOUT telling others about them. And at the end of class, I will collect them and we will try to guess who the poem belongs to. If you get it right you can get a piece of candy or a changed grade for a small assignment. However, if no one gets it the writer gets the prize instead," he explained as he shut his book and placed it on his hip.
"Let's go," Undyne cheered as she fist-bumped the air. Her single eye shined and her pointy teeth flashed as she smiled. Everyone else's face changed as well as the idea of a better grade grew in their head. That or the idea of getting some sweet candy. Either way, it was a win.
"Okay get out some pieces of paper," Mr. Lopez smiled as he glanced at his watch, "You have 20 minutes so, we could spend 20 on guessing. So go!" With that everyone went searching in there bags for pieces of paper and writing utensils. You put your pencil to the paper and started working.
+ + + + + + + + +
"Okay, times up," Mr. Lopez yelled, "Finish up your last sentence because I'm taking them now." Within the 20 minutes, you wrote 4 different poems. Most of them more complex and serious while, one was just short and simple. You just wrote what came to mind. Mr. Lopez came to collect yours and you handed them to him. It looked like he took a quick peek because a large smile grew on his face. However, before you could ask he was off the collect the next student's work.
"How many did you write," a voice questioned you spun towards them and saw Undyne.
"4, how about you," you inquired as she leaned back with pride.
"6," she smirked eyeing you, "and they're good too." You smiled and propped up your elbow, placing your head in your hand. In the corner of your eye, you could see that Mr. Lopez had all of the poems. He was just looking through them picking ones out into a separate pile.
"Really I doubt that," you teased playfully. You watched as her smile grew, indicating that she knew you were playing around. "I also doubt that you will get any of these right."
"Is that a challenge," she dared sitting up a bit, playing her part.
"Yup," you sassed. She shook her head slightly laughing quietly.
"Alright, how about this punk," she proposed, "Whoever gets more right has to buy the winner lunch tomorrow." Your smile widened.
"You're on," you agreed as held a hand out. Without another thought, she grabbed your hand and gave it a firm shake. You stared each other dead in the eyes well, for you eye. But it was still intense, however...
You had this in the bag.
