You lazily peeled your eyes open and listened to the noise that woke you up. In the distance, you could hear an annoying bird singing loudly. Their soft whistling and constant chirps were so annoying, it was nothing like stories and movies make it out to be. Chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp!

"Shut the fuck up already," you groaned softly as you realized that you weren't going back to sleep anytime soon. You yawned quietly and lifted your arms above your head, stretching out your arms and fingers. Dropping them back down to rub the sleep from your eyes. "God how long were we sleeping," you asked. You glanced at your leather watch, reading 6:00 underneath the cracked glass.

Dropping your hands back down and wrapping them around Skyla. You glanced down at her and smiled softly. She was still quietly sleeping in your arms. Her head was snuggled onto your chest, resting on your transportable pillows that you were given to you during middle school. Uh, did boobs come in handy sometimes, you thought to yourself sarcastically with a small chuckle. Tenderly you moved the hair from over her eyes, behind her eye. Her eyes were no longer as puffy as before and her tear stains were gone.

After talking with her, you two cried in each other's arms for a while. She was probably crying over her near-death and betrayal. The wind whipping her hair crazily as she grasped onto nothing. Calling for help while watching the shadow smiled menacingly at her. It must have been a lot. However, you cried from the fear of losing her. The idea of her body broken and bloody as she slammed onto the grass kept flashing in your head. The thought of her despising herself and going into a depression. Not to mention, that you were having flashbacks from your past. Your mother smiling sweetly, her bedtime stories before you closed your eyes, the feeling when you learned that she died, the night where...

You shook your head lightly, trying to get rid of those dark thoughts. After the crying session, you both must've fallen asleep. Which made complete sense. Crying takes a lot of energy from a person and it was an extremely rough day for both of you. Not to mention, that you barely slept from the previous night due to your night with the shadow. You sighed quietly and looked up, observing the area.

The grass was lightly swaying in the cool wind. There was shuffling in the trees as the branches brushed one another. Orange and yellow leaves gracefully falling onto the ground. While small animals like squirrels and rabbits skittered over them. Some looking for berries from the bushes nearby while others got a drink at the lake. You noticed how the sun was barely in the sky, peeking between the trees in the east. Damn it, you thought, it's already the next day. What am I going to d-

Your thought was cut off as you felt movement on your body. You looked down to see Skyla stirring wake, her eyes fluttering open. When her sweet brown eyes landed onto yours, she smiled kindly.

"Good morning [Y/N]," she said groggily rubbing the sleep away from her eyes.

"Morning Sky," you smiled as you stroked her head. Pushing back the stray hairs on her head from sleeping. "How'd you sleep," you asked, slightly worried that she might've had trouble due to yesterday.

"I slept well," she answered. You scanned her for any hints of a lie, however, there were none. At least she wasn't having nightmares about it. "How about you," she questioned slowly waking up.

"Fantabulous," you said honestly. For once, you were telling Skyla the truth about that question. Usually, you would have to lie due to the fact that nightmares seemed to plague your dreams. Constantly reminding you about how everything was your fault and that the shadow would always be there. Yet, last night you actually had a normal dream...

For the first time in years.

"That's good," Skyla cheered happily. Flashing you a toothy grin and a closed eye smile. She was acting as she would normally, which was a huge relief for you. It seemed as if you were able to help her yesterday. You chuckled softly and ruffled her hair, messing up your previous cleanup job. "Hey," she shouted playfully as she tried to hide her head from you. But, you kept going, ruffling her head and laughing louder. "Stop it," she giggled, softly swatting your hands away and trying to scramble away from your attacks.

"NEVER," you claimed as you held her down and messed with her hair harder. She struggled in your arms, both of you laughing and giggling loudly as you played. After a couple of minutes, she was able to fall out of your lap and make some distance between you two.

"Ha, I got away," she resounded. Standing towards you in a way that was quite similar to the one that Papyrus does. Her hands were on her hips and her chest was puffed out as she stood proudly. Her [h/c] hair blowing in the breeze and a broad smile on her face. She was just like a superhero.

"Why yes, you did. For you are way too strong for me," you praised her, your hands raised in the air. Surrendering to the 'powerful' person in front of you, smirking lightly.

"Yeah I am," she beamed. Skyla turned away, in such a way that you could see a cape fluttering in the wind. Marching towards the lake and exploring your secret spot. You chuckled softly and stared at your sister. She was amazing in every way. Kind, smart, loving, and passionate. Not to mention, that she was extremely brave and strong. Any other kid who went through what she did wouldn't be playing like she is now. You loved her with every fiber in your body and she loved you. You smiled softly as you watched her crouch in front of the flowers. Starring at them with wonder and a sparkle in her eye. How long have we been playing, you thought to yourself. You peered at your watch and read that it was almost 7. God, we gotta go back.

"Hey Skyla," you called as you pulled yourself up, dusting yourself lightly. She peeked over her shoulder, letting you know that was giving you her attention. "We gotta go," you said.

"What," she exclaimed standing up and spinning towards you, "But I want to stay! It's so pretty!" Your smile became slightly sour as it turned bittersweet. Remembering how you said that your first time coming here with your mother. You never wanted to leave this place back then but, now it only brought painful memories. You had to leave, not only because of the problem with the shadow. But because of how your heart throbbed whenever you thought of her. You had to leave.

"Well, I guess I'm the only one to get Louis's chocolate muffins," you prodded shrugging casually and sticking your hands in your pants pockets. Slightly bothering you as you usually put them in your jacket pockets. However, you left that back at the stands along with your satchel. Skyla's eyes widened a bit at your statement.

"We're going to the Feather Cafe," she inquired. You smirked a little as you knew that you had her hook, line, and sinker.

"Well, I am," you pointed out as you pointed to yourself. Her face twisted into confusion, tilting her head a bit and narrowing her eyes towards you. Drawing out the 'you', you noted, "You wanted to stay here," while you spun your pointer finger at her until it stopped on her. Her brows raised and curved, suddenly remembering her previous statement. Instant regret washing over her face. "Welp, see ya," you said as you shrugged casually and turned away. Moseying towards the exit and closest ribbon, with a single hand raised as a wave goodbye. Quickly you heard footsteps running behind you.

"Wait up," Skyla called. You stopped until she was beside you. She grabbed onto your hand and you ventured into the woods.
