A hard slap hit your face, causing your head to snap harshly to the left. Snapping you out of your thoughts and back into reality. It was suddenly darker than before. The light no longer crept through the windows, instead, dull lamps shined in the room. Giving it an eerie and dark feeling.
"You think you could disobey me," a voice growled. You turned to see the shadow standing in front of you. Only his eyes and teeth shined in the darkness. As they stared darkly at you and his teeth gritted together.
"I- I-," your words began to die in your throat.
"You think that you could have friends when I told you couldn't," he snarled as he stepped closer. You began to shiver and push back into your seat. Hoping for a way out, when there was none. "Answer me you brat," he snapped grabbing your shirt. Roughly pulling you up, face to face with you. For once, his breath didn't reek of beer. Which only meant that he was completely sober for the time being. Maybe you could convince him to stop.
"I didn't mean to! I simply helped one of them and they began to follow me. Honest," you explained quickly. You felt his grip loosen a little as you continued, "I don't even like them! And today I was at work and I helped one of them again. And they got my boss to give me the day off, even when I didn't want to. Believe me! I never wanted to be their friends' dad-" Your stop and gasped at your slip up. In a flap of a hummingbird's wing, the shadow's grip tightened.
"What the hell did you just call me," he sneered lowly.
"I'm- I'm sorry I didn't mean to-"
"Basement now," he ordered as he roughly threw you onto the carpeted floor. Your head hitting the poorly painted walls a bit, causing pain to shoot in your head. You cradled your head as you winced softly, rolling on the floor onto your stomach.
You peeked open your cold [e/c] eyes, to see the shadow at the fridge. His face illuminated by the bright fridge light, revealing his scruffy beard and small wrinkles. He grabbed a brown beer and cracked opened it with a cheap beer opener magnet. He swiftly brought it to his chap lips and took a swig, tilting his head back. After a bit, he came up and wiped his mouth with his pale yellow sleeve. Staring at the fridge, thinking deeply as if he was making a serious decision. You thought that he might change his mind. Maybe let you go since you were going to be in public tomorrow with him. However, those small hopes shatter as you watched him grab the entire beer box and storm to your personal hell. You sighed loudly, it was simply one of those nights, you thought as you got up. Still holding your head a bit as you followed him.
Tonight was going to be very long...
I hope I'm going to be alright for the performance tomorrow...

"COME ON [Y/N]," Skyla cheered. You faintly grimaced as she continued to tug your arm, dragging you towards the elevator. Last night was extremely rough. It felt as if you would shatter if you moved too fast. Each step sent searing pain up your legs. While your back burned as it rubbed gently on your shirt and jacket. You haven't had a night like that since...
Your mother's anniversary last year.
"Slow down Skyla," a voice said behind you. Almost immediately your sister stopped, skidding on the soft grass with her pink converse. Huffing lightly as she watched a family pass us into the elevator.
"But daddy! We won't get really good seats if we're slow," Skyla whined, "We're already a bit late as it is!"
She was right. The flying performances were the highlight of our small town. It was always so surprising and entertaining. The way the different wings of both size and color would fly together in sync. Showing a marvelous performance of circles and spinning. However, the most exciting part of the entire thing was the students' showcase. It gave the spotlight to a single student, allowing them to perform a series of moves. No matter how complicated it was, it was simply time to show your stuff and shine--it was supposed to help students get scholarships for colleges. It was amazing! Watching students corkscrew and drop to shocking levels before opening their wings last minute. Everyone wanted to see the students fly. Well...
not everyone...
"Its alright sweetheart," the shadow stated as he appeared beside you. You all stepped into the glass elevator along with other families. You stood quietly with your hand on your sister's shoulder as you felt everyone's glances towards you. "We'll still get the good seats," the shadow reasoned as he ruffled your sister's head. You saw a slight twitch on his lip as he forced a smile on his face. A hint that he lied. He hated flying performances and to be completely honest, you did too a little.
It was during your performance that your mother died...
However, as you glanced through the elevator. You looked at the white stands, that were slowly being filled with citizens. The stands floated at least 500 feet in the air, the orange flames from the 8 engines underneath were flickering in the wind. As the seniors were beginning there stretches around the track. Flying in ovals, getting their wings relaxed for the big show as they were the opening performance. You could see Papyrus and Undyne flying the front racing each other like always. While Alphys flew in the middle with her small yellow wings. With sans trailing the farthest lazily flapping his black wings, holding back his speed. You saw the smiles on their faces as they flew free in the air. The excitement in their eyes as they shinned and sparkled. This was the reason why you loved the performances deep inside your soul.
