Subaru appeared in front of my door in a gorgeous white suit that matched his hair really well.
I hopped off the bed, hurriedly tugging at my own apparel.
"Please tell me it's not messed up, Reiji would kill me," I groaned, already missing the safety of my sheets.
"No, you look..." He turned around and coughed, opening the door in an obvious attempt to change the subject.
"I look what?" I grinned, "I wouldn't know unless you tell me~"
Well if he wasn't red before he sure was now. A bright, fire engine red splashed across his cheeks and he frowned.
"Let's just go!" He growled, stomping out.
"Waitt!! I was joking!!"
I ran after the huffy boy, managing to catch up within a few strides.I couldn't help the thought that crossed my mind.
'He didn't teleport away...he let me catch up...'
I shook it away, my brain had a habit of linking the most subtle of things into huge conclusions.
So much so I could link things that weren't even there.
Suddenly we stopped.
It was a room I'd never even seen before. Two large oak doors with golden bars accross. Beyond the towering door I could hear the muffled sound of a party in full swing.
I looked at my escort and spotted the same unease in his eyes that I was feeling.
He was struggling to pin on his corsage.
"So, be my bodyguard?" I grinned, fixing the lilac corsage on his breast pocket. It took a bit but he gave a small nod.
So small it was no more obvious than the sound of an ant scurrying across the floor. Yet the warmth that flooded my stomach was...shocking to say the least.
"Nevermind," I mutter, my face a little hot, and unpinned the purple corsage that the tsundere clearly wasn't fond of, "I prefer you in white anyways."
As I walked through the doors I was thinking of every cliche princess movie ever where the whole crowd turns to the main character walking in with some bomb-ass music in the background.
But I damn sure wasn't expecting it to be EXACTLY LIKE THAT.
My shameless ass almost glowed red by the time I walked through the crowd straight at the first familiar brat I saw. Everyone 5 feet away from him like he had some disease called corona or something.
Still, from my point of view he was a godsend.
I almost ran at the auburn haired male as he turned around to see me.
"Jimminy Christiano why are they staring like I'm wearing a dinosaur costume eating a banana doing jumping jacks?" I rambled, settling myself between him and the appetiser table. Ayato glanced at me before turning back to the cherry tart in his hand. "Maybe you're just that ugly."
UM
I think NOT!
Annoyed, I grabbed the pretty red maraschino cherry that sat opulently on the luciously glazed tart and ATE IT. (Death note anyone?)
He stared at me like I had just insulted his mother, father, aunt, uncle, distant cousin twice removed AND his favourite chicken.
Uh oh
"You little-"
*Clatter*
We both spun around and spotted a small empty platter on the floor by the feet of a Shu in his natural habitat, lying on a couch. 'Old habits die hard I guess?' I think a little ironically as I recall the fallen painting that had saved Yui in the first game all those years ago.
Ayato huffed, "I wasn't going to do anything, asshole." He grumbled, plucking his plate off the table and brushing past me,
AND PINCHING ME WHILE HE PASSED. THAT BITTER BASTARD.
I rolled my eyes and rubbed the sore spot on my arm before a sudden chill shot down my back. I spun around yet no one was there. Still the feeling persisted. It felt like icy cold slobber between my shoulder blades, inching down my back painfully slowly. I felt a pair of eyes on me yet no amount of turning and glancing around revealed the perpetrator.
Then, a small wispy sheen caught my eye. It was faint, mere glints of it just barely visible beyond the archway to the balcony.
I glanced around again before stepping towards the waning sparkle.
Then the room spun.
What was in that cherry?
