I gulped, watching as snippets of that day flashed accross this tiny soarkling window.

"Well what are you doing? Click on it already!"

I was starting to think I preferred the previous Senior Nice Voice.

Hesitantly, I stuck a hand out and jabbed the image.

It felt like poking a finger into a still pool of water as the image rippled outwards.

But it didn't stop, oh no...

The ripples slowly expanded and enlarged, eventually surrounding me.

I blinked and it was instantaneous.

I found myself in a small dark alley.

The same one I passed by almost every day when I used to walk the long way to school.

The alley between 3rd and 4th street.

I glanced over to the entrance to the alley as a figure came into view.

'that's-!'

"You're me!" I gasped at the boy who had just entered the alley.

Yet he seemed to not quite be staring at me.

'was he staring through me...?'

"H-hey, you're-" I get cut off as the boy who wore my face got withing inches of me.

Then he stuck a hand through my stomach.

My breath hitched and I stepped back.

"It's a memory you idiot..."

Ah Senior Nice Voice... Nice to see you again...

"You can't alter anything in it, just be good and pay close attention," his words came out almost as an owner frustrated with his pet that kept crapping everywhere. It was belittling and pretty annoying.

Still, it was a better idea to obey the cosmic entity rather than annoy him further so I settled in and watched as the scene unfolded before me.

The boy, or rather me in the past, reached past a few discarded cardboard boxes and into a small pocket where a dull silver sheen shone.

'that's-!'

I pulled out a clean and working PlayStation Vita.

It was like a floodgate had been opened.

'This happened just a day before the Sakamaki's came-!'

The scene suddenly changed, shwoing me laying on my bed as I fiddled with the grey brick.

I shuffled closer, peeking at the screen past me was looking at.

It showed one save file.

'Test 17...'

I only managed to peek at the picture that accompanied the file just before past me clicked on it out of a morbid curiosity.

I hadn't recognised it at the time but I did now.

It was that day when Shu, Subaru and Ayato all had me pinned on the bed. The small screenshot that displayed beside the save file being a CG of them all staring down at me with eyes full of want.

Everything clicked.

'so the cause of this is that file...!'

"But how would a save file kead to this...?" I mutter, meaning it as a rhetorical question but who was I to complain when Mr Fate over there decided to answer me.

"Duh, because of me," again, cocky tone that got on my nerves but I brushed it off.

"What do you mean because of you?" I ask as the scene around me faded, I was back in that weird headspace.

"Ugh, I wanted you to figure it out on your own but this story has been dragging on for too long..." They muttered and I bit back words that were basically soaked in colourful language.

"Richter had been trying to access different worlds ever since I showed myself to him years ago," the voice began as I plopped onto the floor, preparing for a long story. "Rookie mistake to show myself to a being but I've learnt from that." Yet here they were speaking to me right now...

"Of course without my blessing he couldn't do any of that... That was until I guess I got bored~" the flippant nature of his words made my blood boil.

"I mean what was I to do? No mass extinctions or world wars to entertain me... I decided to start a little fun on my own!"

"Though..." They sighed. "I didn't expect that the dimensional borders between the two worlds would have broke so easily..."

"So I guess you could say my interference in this is to both be a spectator and a driving force," I could practically hwar the grin behind these words. God I wished they had some kind of face I could pummel...

"I get my entertainment and fix my mistake! Win win~"

I resist the urge to curse and instead probe for more.

"So why me?" I mumble, running a hand down my face.

"Hmm... No real reason~ I just picked a place in Japan at random!"

That...

'so... everything was... a thing of chance...?'

I grabbed fistfulls of the sand that lay around me.

"So... Everything was just me being lucky...?" I whisper, the grains of sand rubbing against my palms as I grip tighter.

"Well yeah~ pretty much!"

"There wasn't any bigger purpose behind it... I just happened to be in the right place at the right time..."

"Yep~!"

It was like a whirlwind of emotions flurried through me. Joy, disapointment, shock, fear, worry.

'I never meant anything... I was just lucky...?'

'I could have never met them and nothing would have changed...?'

Then three familiar faces came to mind.

And just like that the storm in me silenced.

I was left clear headed and resolute.

It didn't matter what I could have been to them.

I was important to them.

They were important to me.

"It doesn't matter if it was some random chance... I need to solve this situation... For all of us..." I push myself back onto my feet, the sand pouring from my hands as I wrap my fingers around something cold.
