Its REWIND TIME:

Ayato threw his legs up on the coffee table, much to Reiji's displeasure as he gave the boy a disgusted look which said boy ignored.

The lack of blood had definitely been getting to him. He found himself constantly grumpy and tired.

Worst of all?

He was getting weak.

He had found himself unable to go as hard in basketball as he used to be able to, even the groups he played with began noticing it.

It seemed this was true for all three that the human of the house had gotten close to.

Ayato, Shu and Subaru were all weaker and more tired than normal. That is if Shu could even become more tired.

They were all hungry, desperate, they wanted blood.

Not just anyone's though...

They wanted Ace's blood.

The idea of having anyone elses had slowly changed from being undesirable to downright impossible.

If you asked them they wouldn't be able to tell you why either.

They just couldn't comprehend the idea of drinking from anyone else.

So thats what drove them to actually talk amongst the three of them for the first time in millenia.

They schemed almost, coming up with the idea to finally satisfy their crippling want for Ace's blood.

Though they hadn't exactly discussed when they'd do this.

Thus leading Shu and Ayato to believe Subaru was trying to get a leg up on them when he went to apologise to Ace after the fight between the Sakamaki's and Mukami's.

They had fully intended to hold Ace down and have their fill.

That was the plan.

Even as they pressed their lips against the boy's body, they had all expected each other to sink their fangs into his flesh.

Yet for some reason,

The second they had actually gotten there,

The boy writhing beneath them like they had wanted,

None of them could go through with it.

The idea of biting him against his wishes now seemed even more distasteful than drinking from another person.

So unknowingly, they all proceeded to mark him in a way that would not hurt him. Not too much anyways.

It was only when they pulled away and exchanged looks that theu realised what they had all done.

Ayato huffed, haphazardly throwing his feet back onto the floor with an obnoxiously loud thump.

Why was he even thinking about this?

He should have just but the boy.

He should have.

Yet he didn't regret it.

For some reason, the idea of the mark he left on Ace's once untouched skin caused a satisfaction that seemed to satisfy his physical hunger.

He grabbed at his shirt, not quite knowing why a heat had pooled into the pits of his stomach.

He let out a soft groan as he got to his feet, wanting to leave and purge himself of the enrgy that had somehow flooded his system.

Then...

"You!" Subaru's voice rang out from the main hall.

Ayato quickened his steps, a nonsensical anxiety filling his lungs.

'It can't be-'

Yet Ayato's stomach only fell.

There, before Subaru and filling the doorway was their uncle.

Richter Sakamaki.

The clear day seemed almost eerie and patronizing as it shone from behind the man.

"Bastard!" Yuma was the first to speak, it was then Ayato realised everyone had piled into the entrance hall.

Everyone except Shu.

This set the nerves he wasn't even aware he had been feeling at ease.

This meant Shu was still with Ace.

This meant Shu would protect him.

He wasn't allowed to feel this calm much longer, however, as Yuma ran at the man.

Yet Ayato could hardly blink before the halfblood was thrown against the stairs, the steps crumbling.

"You-" Ruki wasn't allowed to finish as a fist was sent into his chest, causing blood to spill from his lip.

Azusa had attempted to stop the boy's collision course with the wall but ended up being slammed into it right along with him, crumpling to the floor.

"Stop, you halfblood's stand no chance," Reiji uttered, his tone not the typical one in which he used to look down on them. This was a tone someone used to state a fact, like Kangaroos had pouches and Asheiji was canon. This sent a shiver down the remaining Mukami's spine.

But he refused to back down.

Kanato was up next, a ball of fury as he flew at his uncle. Reiji was right behind him and yet, in the time it took for Ayato to decide to join them, they were thrown aside.

Subaru ran at his uncle, managing to get pretty close, dodging the counters that came his way.

Then there was hand that was going straight for the albino's neck, one that now held a glinting piece of metal.

The boy flinched back but wasn't able to react in time.

-

-

-

His neck would get sliced in two.

-

-

-

He pressed his eyes shut as he heard a loud squelch.

-

-

-

Yet no pain came.

-

-

-

He forced his eyes open to spot blonde hair.

The final Mukai had a satisfied smirk on his face, even as he gripped onto the wound on his shoulder and fell to the floor.

Subaru stumbled back as a kick sent Kou slamming against a dresser which collapsed into splintered planks.

Then, green hair flew past Subaru coming straight at Ayato.

The boy was shoved aside by his triplet.

The vampire didn't even know how to fight.

Yet he still took the hit for him, sent tumbking down the hall.

Subaru and Ayato were arguably the strongest fighters of the brothers, perhaps alongside Shu. However, with whatever enhancements Richter now seemed to have as well as the fact that they had been deprived of their food source for so long. It spelt disaster in big bold letters.

Still they charged forward.

They managed to avoid most of Richter's attacks, even landing a few hits when Subaru was hit.

It took a second for Ayato to realise his younger brother had been slammed into the ceiling and fallen back onto the floor in a crater that was slowly filling with blood.

This one second was all it took for him to be sent halfway through a wall, his vision fading as he spotted Ace from around a corner.

'r...un...'
