"But the thing is," I sigh, finally having the time to catch my breath. "What is going on NOW is definitely not following the games or anime."

I had just spent the last hour or so convincing the two new aditions that they were indeed anime characters. I tried to avoid any sore subjects but that was basically like avoiding the feels when Mafuyu sings, so basically impossible. Despite making my sections on their past as succinct as possible, ultimately the boys were still put in a rather sour mood.

To be fair that probably wasn't the only reason but I wanted to save the tsunami of guilt for later. Pretend for the next couple of minutes that I didn't just blindside the boys that had already been hurt enough. So I did what I do best and changed the subject.

"So even I don't know how you guys got here or why Luke is acting so weird..." I groan, finally realising just how little I knew.

"Oh but," I added in, hoping whatever information I had would at least help the boys arrive at a conclusion. "In the main story of the anime, the main antagonist was your uncle, Richter."

I could basically hear their voices hitch in their throat.

'so much for changing the mood...'

"A-and the one who defeated him was," I pointed at Ayato.

'I wonder if Richter is already dead for the boys?'

"HAAHH?!" Subaru basically yelled out. "How did this bastard beat him?!" He pointed an accusatory finger at Ayato, the latter of which now pushed to continue the shouting match.

'I'm gonna take that as a no...'

'wait if Richter isn't dead'

'that could mean that-!'

"Richter is our enemy." Shu took the words out of my mouth as he drew in a leg to get to his feet.

The two hotheads paused their petty bickering at this, both clicking their tongue to show their displeasure. "Well dumb blonde sure didn't smell human," Ayato remarked disdainfully.

"Pfft, dumb blonde, wait till I tell Lu-" I stopped myself.

That was so stupid I wanted to slap myself. 'Luke wasn't on your side. He's not-'

"Oi Chibimushi! Don't look so depressed!" Ayato yapped at me.

Ah, I must've made a face.

"Your friend isn't against you." Subaru sighed, raking a hand through his white bangs and refusing to meet my eyes in classic tsundere fashion.

'he's...not?'

"But didn't Ayato just say-?" I was cut off as Shu held up a phone in front of me. The screen it was on was a photo of what looked to be my phone. I bit back the urge to lecture them on privacy and scanned the picture to read what was on the screen. 'Luke's on vacation...?' I squinted to read the date of the message then hurridly glanced at my phone to compare them.

'wait that means that-!'

A nasty shiver ran down my spine.

"So for these past weeks I've been..." I could feel bile building in the back of my throat as my stomach churned with unease. "Hanging out with a fake...?"

The person I'd joked about Luke's girlfriend with.

The person who I'd shown the secret room to.

The person I'd let in my own room.

Was a fake.

I'd considered the possibility but to have it become fact was a new horror. A strange concoction of emotion swirled in the pits of my stomach. Fear for my past self, relief that Luke wasn't some century old vampire, unease for what Richter had planned.

And then it hit me.

"Guys..." I whisper, my voice barely audible. Sure Richter's voice was hardly used in the anime considering the small amount of episodes he appeared in but yet the more I recalled the more it horrified me.

Richer's voice was the same.

The same as that first voice I'd heard in my head when this all began.

The one that had been calling me a girl.

The one that had taken control of my mind.

It was like wave after wave of new horrid discoveries washed over me and chipped away at me bit by bit. Pieces were starting to fall into place but I didn't like the puzzle ut was revealing.

I hardly noticed when my back collided harshly with the wall as my body swayed to steady itself.

"Chbi-" "Ace-"

I slapped a clammy hand over my forehead.

"Richter was in my head," I say incredulously. "He'd been telling me what to do from the start, he's been manipulating me from the start."

"And I just played right into it."

My body slid further down the wall until a solid mass encased me. By the looks of the two boys standing in front of me it could only be one mosquito.

"Shu..."

"If you want to continue on your tangent," Shu sighed, burrowing his face deeper into my back. "I don't really care but," I could hear the soft sound of a violin emitting from his earpieces. "All that noise will muddle the Bach."

I blinked.

'Was that a...metaphor?'

'he's telling me to stop thinking so much...isn't he?'

I huff.

"You know, if I was as linguistically lacking as those bozos I wouldn't have gotten that, right?" I sigh, sinking down into his crossed legs, finally silencing the thoughts that had been plaguing me recently.

Sure enough though, my little jab at the two hotheads had quickly set them off, the shouting now directed at me.

I stifle a laugh as Shu let a soft groan of annoyance into my hair.

'we'll find a way, we will!'

The smile worms its way on my face.

'I love these dumbasses...'
