Chapter 22: Revenge of the Dango 2: Electric Boogaloo

Strange....

Very strange....

Ever since i got back home that day...

I'd been ushered into my room by a surprisingly non-pervert Laito,

Had my temperature taken by a very clueless Ayato (dude tried to stick it in my ear)

Had a creepy bedtime story about a bloody teddy bear read to me by Kanato

Been tucked into bed with extra sheets by Shu

Forced into drinking bowls of tonic soup by Reiji

And having my own white knight Subaru beside me who refused to let me get up for ANYTHING.

After about an hour of laying in bed with nothing to do I'd just about had it. I sat up, ignoring the commands of Tsunbaru to lay back down and could only sigh as i finally asked him what the brothers were doing.

"Shu said you werent feeling well..." He muttered, crossing his arms as though hiding himself.

I stared, puzzled.

'so all this is-'

"You guys are adorable, you know that?" I whispered. This whole situation suddenly felt a lot more heartwarming.

"I feel fine though, honestly." I tried to get onto my feet only for an arm to leverage me back down onto my butt. "You're not going anywhere!" Ayato yelled as demanding as ever.

'How many times am i gonna get GRABBED FROM BEHIND'

I thrash around but am unsuccessful in breaking free.

"I. Said. Im. FINE." I grit my teeth and struggle harder but alas, the mosquitoes were stronger than i gave them credit for.

"WE DONT KNOW THAT!"

I stopped moving and turned to a very troubled looking Subaru.

"We don't know how your human bodies work," he muttered with a sigh,

"but we know they're weaker than ours..."

"We cant let you die."

His eyes gazed into mine.

He was serious...

Really serious...

"I wont die."

Shrugging off Ayato's embrace i get to my feet. "If anything i just have a fever, i just need a few hours to get over it," i explain, trying to ease the two boys.

They dont seem to buy it though.

Ayato gives me an unconvinced look which pushes me to speak again. "Look, if youre really that worried I can go see a doctor-"

"NO!" Ayato leaped in front of me before I could open the door.  This was starting to get suspicious. "Its not just my fever is it? Whats going on?"

They seem conflicted.

"You're sick and... the... ami's...ere" Subaru trailed off.

I turn my gaze to Ayato, not wanting to hound Subaru anymore. "Well you're sick and the halfbloods are here, you can't defend-"

"They're what?!"

I leap to my feet.

"You guys are practically overunning my house already, I don't need four more of you!!" I whine, slumping onto the floor. "You guys DO REALISE I'm still the one paying rent here right?" I grumble.

"Here..."

Ayato sighs and thrusts a bag in front of me.

'That smell'

"Dango...?" He nods in response and I practically pounce on the bag. "Ayato you-" I look up at him with the sparkliest eyes i can manage. "Just eat that and cheer up already, Midget!" He commands but I'm not as insulted as I normally am.

I give him a grin before realising we basically alienated baby tsuntsun.

I pop open the styrofoam box and let loose the fragrant aroma of the white gold of food. "Well, I guess I could find it in my heart to forgive both of you..."

I stab one of the balls with the wooden skewer.

"If you guys share this with me!"

I don't wait for a response, instead pulling both boys onto the bed. I hand Ayato the other wooden skewer while waving mine in front of Subaru. "There's only two skewers so you can have the first bite Mr Tsunbaru."

He seems a little disgruntled at the nickname but takes a bite of the dessert anyways.

"THATS NOT FAIR, ORE-SAMA DEMANDS MIDGET FEED HIM TOO!" Oreo yells like a little brat. I sigh but oblige, taking the chance to speak when his mouth his full. "Anything if it makes you shut your piehole." He glares at me but is unable to retort. I can't help the giggles that pop up.

"You need to be careful," I hear Subaru mutter.

We lock eyes and he continues. "Those Mukamis will be staying with us now, they could take you away more easily now..." He growls.

"Well, I guess we have no choice but to stay by Midget's side." Oreo-sama says haughtily.

I want to rebuke but to be fair I am a little nervous of what the Mukami's could do. After all, I never played their routes :'). So I decide to go along with them, even if just for now. "Well then, I guess im in your hands." I smile, downing another dango ball.

'Hmm? Why are they staring at me like that?'
