My heart dropped, I was so close, so close to the door.
What would he do to me now?
But then I realised the sound didn't come from behind me, it came from the door.
I propelled myself forward just as the door opened, falling into someone's arms.
I hear another person enter the room.
"How distasteful."
Kou.
I could hear the bitterness in his tone, it sent a shiver down my spine.
I looked up at my saviour and sure enough, ruby red eyes stared back into my own.
I could feel the urge to cry fill my chest like a thick tar but I held myself back, choosing to instead wrap my arms around the albino.
"You were right...I should have brought the knife..." I muttered into his collar, a lovely floral scent enveloping me.
His arms fell on the small of my back, encapsulating me entirely. Slowly I felt my heart rate slow as my breathing steadied.
"N-no! Y-you've got it a-all wrong!" I heard the creep yell. "T-that boy came onto me!" He spat the word out like it was venom. "Y-you know how reputable I am! T-that boy was trying to make use of me!" I felt my hatred for the man only grow. 'Reputable? How many people have you assaulted and used that reputation to get away with?' I feel myself shake in anger, scrunching up Subaru's shirt in my hands.
"Aah~ so that's what happened~" I heard Kou hum.
I was so shocked I almost shot up to confront him, but true to the anime, Kou always saw through a lie.
"You used that reputation of yours to get away with a lot didn't you~?" I heard the man whimper at the idol's words.
I slowly released Subaru and got to my feet, turning to see the scene unfolding before me.
Subaru moves to inspect me, immediately spotting the wound on my neck. I see the man now on his ass, babbling and trying to get the idol on his side but Kou was having none of it. I felt Subaru's hand leave my back as he walked forward.
He looked so calm, yet I saw how tense his back was.
He was seething.
I see his hand pick up the man by the collar, the pig squealing pathetically in his grip. Then Subaru slammed him into the wall, the cracks spiderwebbing around his head. I could see the blood start to run down the man's shirt.
I ran over, grabbing onto the arm that was holding up the man.
As much as I hated the guy, he didn't deserve this...
"Subaru, please, let him go," I stared the boy in the eyes but he kept his venom-filled gaze on the writhing man, now clearly out of it and scared shitless. "Shut up," Subaru muttered fiercely, his grip on the man's collar tightening so much his knuckles were red. "Subaru-kun, let the police deal with this," I hear Kou sigh, rather relaxed for this situation. "I SAID SHUT UP!" Subaru yelled, his voice coming out like the growl of a rabid beast. He forced the man into the wall even harder, I hear the creep now gasping for air.
"SUBARU!" I yell back, grabbing his head with my hands to face me.
He shakes me off but I persist, finally getting him to look at me.
"Let him go," I say softly but clearly. "I'm okay..."
I see his eyes flick between my hand which was now pressed against the gash on my neck and the man a few times before he relinquished his hold on the man, causing him to fall to the floor coughing.
Subaru slowly stepped away from the petrified man, grabbing hold of a nearby rack and slamming it into the wall so hard it cracked yet again. Then he stormed out.
I move to go after him but my hand is pulled by Kou.
"Help me cover up the cracks, his head wound was from him falling to the floor after we pulled him off you," Kou eyed me seriously. I gave a small nod and glance back down the hall but Subaru was long gone. I cast a glance down at the man who was now muttering senselessly, I grab a poster from a stack on the shelf by the door and stick it over the cracks, Kou helping me cover the second one.
The rest of the night was pretty blurry, I was tired, so tired. Kou got the creep fired on the spot and I declined the stage manager's offer to call the cops. He'd gotten his punishment already.
Well that was for my case anyways. The stage manager said he would launch a full investigation on all those the guy may have harrassed before me. Serves him right I say.
But right now, I just wanted to leave that damn place already.
"My offer still stands," Kou muttered as he walked me to red. I shook my head, declining the lift back yet again. "I can't just leave my darling red here," I give a grin, pulling my helmet over my head. I hear his footsteps fade as I mount my bike. I take a moment to feel the gauze that had been taped over my reopened cut, now damp underneath, the blood still seeping from the wound albeit slower now.
I rev up red but for the first time I'm not exactly in the mood for riding.
I sigh, shutting off the engine and taking off my helmet, turning to look up at the sky. The stars were hardly visible from where I was, thanks to all the city lights around me. Still, the few twinkling lights I did see were mesmerizing. I breathed in the cold night air, watching as my breath turned to mist. The jacket I'd borrowed from Yuma wasn't quite cutting it anymore, the cold seeping in through the fabric.
'damn it's getting cold...'
Stiff fabric covers my shoulders.
I glance over my shoulder, spotting Subaru now sitting on the back of red but facing away from me. His gaze was up, also looking at the stars.
I swing my left leg over the handlebars, now sitting side by side with the albino. I pull the leather jacket he put on me closer. "I was looking for you," I sigh playfully, tapping him gently on the shoulder with the back of my hand. His gaze dropped, sweeping the floor as he turned to face me.
I get a good look at his face. Porcelain skin with mesmerising eyes, he was an anime character alright. "Why are you still here?" He asked rather bluntly. I laugh softly before replying, "I dunno, I just didn't feel like driving..." I sighed, rubbing my hands on my jeans. "Thanks by the way, for the jacket."
He looks at me for a moment before getting up. "I'll drive."
I look at him blankly. "You can ride a motorcycle?" I ask as I got off my seat.
He gave a silent nod, hopping onto the front of the seat. I take my seat behind him, pulling my helmet over my head. Before I could get his though, he'd already begun driving.
I quickly wrapped my fingers under the seat to keep myself planted down as we gained speed.
"W-wait ya doofus, you haven't got your helmet on-!" I chide but he just ignores me, speeding up instead. As we run into a particularly bumpy part of the road I opt to wrap my arms around his waist instead, my grip strength not quite strong enough to keep me in my seat for the whole trip.
I sneak glances of him whenever I look up. His face was cool as ice, the usual, if it wasn't for the fact that his brows were furrowed more than normal and his jaw was tense.
He was still upset and I expected as much. He seemed to care a lot about my safety.
I lean forward, my forehead resting against the back of his neck.
"Thank you," I whisper.
I don't know if he caught it but I meant it.
'You're such a liar,
you're supposed to be some super sadist...
If so then...
Why are you being so sweet?'
