A few hours later I stumble back and the ringing sound from our swords clashing sound in my ears. I look around as I try to get my balance back. The guard waits patiently.
'RAVEN!' Valarie shouts.
I dismiss the guard and turn to her smirking. She glares at me and storms over to me despite her very obvious pregnant belly.
'You're bleeding out and need to rest!' she yells at me.
My sword disappears in green smoke as I bow to her. 'Sorry your Highness but I don't have time to rest.'
'If you keep this up you will die.'
'Then die I will,' I shrug.
She goes to yell some more but I stand tall and hold my hand up silencing her.
'If I die, please don't cry,' I tell her.
'Don't you ever die on me!' she looks ready to cry.
I only grin mischievously at her. 'I won't.'
'Pinky promise,' she says with tears in her eyes.
I shrug but pinky promise her. With a quick motion faster than what I can process her other hand moves.
'I've taught you too much,' I manage to get out before I fall, unable to move.
'I am so sorry, but you need to stop. I need an alive best friend not a dead one. I have an appointment soon. I need to go.' She rests her hand on my forehead. 'Make sure she rests,' I hear her command the guards still milling around. Someone picks me up. I shut my eyes sighing as my body hangs limply in their grip.
'Afternoon Raven,' the nurse greets me as I come to.
'Time?' I ask as I rub my eyes trying to gain some sight back.
'It is 9pm,' Steve's voice replies. I look up and around. The same Avengers are here for some reason.
'Why are you lot here?' I ignore him and look directly at Tony.
'Oh yeah right. Because one of the police that dealt with a terrorist attack on the Maldives reports to me. They are an undercover investigator. Basically, someone that joins the police every time I think you're involved,' Tony says.
'What? Why?'
Thor comes closer. I shrink back in the chair.
'Thor. Would you mind just waiting a moment. We need to talk to Raven.'
He glares at me.
'I'm not moving from this chair,' I tell him. This satisfies him enough to take a few steps back.
'We've already talked to Valarie and you invited yourself on her holiday. Did you know that they were going to be there?'
'Really? Why would you think that?'
'Did you know that they were going to be there?'
'What?' I say shocked.
'Just answer the damn question!' Cap snaps.
'Language,' I remind the Cap getting a few quiet snickers from his team members. He stands right in front of me, muscles tense. I look at it and at him bored.
'Go ahead. Hit me. Yell at me. I won't talk and threatening me isn't going to get me to,' I tell him.
'Steve. Stand down.'
Cap's gaze flickers from me to Tony. 'Why?'
'Because your obviously not scaring the girl so there's no point in you standing there and she is right. We need her to speak.'
