Planning a competition

The next morning I teleport to Valarie's home and knock on the door. After two minutes and she still doesn't respond I knock louder.

'Ow fuck,' I curse as my skin around my knuckles split and blood starts to drip. I quickly wrap my hand up with a bandage while my clone continues to knock on the door. I cast an illusion over my sore hand to hide the bandages from Val. I step back and watch every window. Upstairs I see a curtain move and Valarie glances down at me. The curtain quickly moves again and I knock again dismissing my clone.

'Just a minute!' Val yells from somewhere inside.

I tap my foot impatiently. 'Is everything ok?' I shout out. Still no response. 'You two already have three kids. No need to make it four!'

The door opens quickly and Val glares at me. 'Get your mind out of the gutter. The house was a mess.'

'Yeah right,' I smirk.

'Anyway, what can I do for you?' she fakes a smile.

'Planning the fight,' I respond.

'Oh, yeah right. Give five minutes and I will meet you over there.'

'Can't we do it in your office?' I groan.

'No!' she shouts. I raise an eyebrow. Weird. 'I mean no. My office is a huge mess. Let's plan it in my father's office. Ok. Byeeee,' Val shuts the door. I blink at the closed door but shrug and walk off the veranda and take my time walking back to the castle. I stroll through the halls and into Thor's study. I look around me at the messy room and take a seat in the swivel chair.

I swing around in the chair as Thor walks in and tells me off.

'Why are you in here Raven?'

'Your daughter decided that we are planning the thing in your office for some reason.'

He rolls his eyes grabs a stack of paperwork and as he heads for the door he looks over his shoulder at me.

'Don't you dare touch any of the paperwork.'

'Hopefully somewhere in that pile is the paperwork for my freedom,' I shoot back.

He glances down at the stack in his arms and smirks. 'Nope. That pile over there is,' he points to the pile by the window and he quickly leaves the room.

'Jerk!' I yell at the closed door.

An hour later Valarie finally walks in.

'Sorry, took a bit longer then five minutes.'

'Just the special kiddos I wanted to see,' Thor says as he walks in and sees Val's two eldest kids.

'Gramps!' they both yell and attempt to run into Thor's arms.

'I have some new ice creams,' Thor bribes.

'Really!' the girl grabs Thor's hand and drags him out while Nick follow behind.

'Not too much sugar!' Val yells at their retreating backs.

The door closes and Val turns to me.

'You're hiding something,' I lean forwards and plant my elbows firmly on the desk. Val takes a seat opposite me and watches me silently for a moment.

'I am allowed to have my secrets as you are allowed to have yours.'

Narrowing my eyes I study her for a moment before shrugging and leaning back in the chair. 'Whatever. Anyway I have to go away for a few days so we will have to hold the competition when I get back.'

'What day will that be?'

'A week from today you can start the preparation.'

'Okay so what exactly are we going to do?'

I pull out my phone and open up notes. 'Okay so I talked to the person who is the head of making preparation and she says all we need to do is pick the date, the time it starts and finishes, the prizes and how the comps should be run.'

Val groans. 'So much work.'

'Honey please that's only the stuff I need you for. I've already had to decide on behalf of you the food the castle cooks will make, the theme of it and which weapons can and can't be used plus I've already had to make up the rules and pick the judges and where it's going to be.'

'Oh.'

'Not to mention all the damn paperwork.'

'Paperwork?'

'Yeah Thor has just finished reading through everything I've already done.'

Val looks down at her hands and shuffles her feet. 'Damn.'

'It's fine Val. You don't know what really goes on in here. Okay I'm going to ask you the questions and you just give me the answers. It won't take that much time that way we can join them down in the kitchen for ice-cream.' I smile gently at her.

She returns the smile and nods her head.

'Okay what time should it start in the morning?'

Val shifts the paperwork in front of her as she thinks. I wait silently for a moment.

'Okay let's start it 8 and wrap it up at 6 every afternoon and we can have it go for as many days as needed. With the population we have I'm guessing maybe three days.'

'Awesome,' I nod and quickly type it into my phone.

'Okay what will the prizes be for first place?'

'Only first palce?'

'Well yeah. It's not a running race there is no second or third.'

'When do we decided that someone is first?'

'When they are the last person standing out of their whole competition.'

'Okay. Yeah. The prize could be like a trophy and a decent amout of runes and a new top of the line sword.'

I nod and type it up. 'Okay cool. Okay that's all I needed you for,' I stand up and stretch. 'Let's get some ice-cream,' I lead the way out of the room and teleport into the kitchen. I take a seat at the bench and the cook turns around. She spots me and after a few seconds place a bowl of ice-cream down in front of me. I take the spoon and start eating.

After a few mintues Valarie finally arrives She seems distant and worried about something. The cook hands her a bowl of ice-cream as well but she barely even touches it.

I get up and stop by her back. 'I'm going away for a few days,' I remind her.

'I know,' she groans.

'So if you want to talk to me about anything do it before tomorrow,' I continue like I didn't hear her. She nods slowly and I leave the room and head to mine.
