Valarie and I walk in silence through the forest. I suddenly stop walking as I hear something. Someone talking. I walk silently towards the voice and I find Thor standing in a small clearing surrounded by animals and birds on him. Val stands next to me gaping at Thor. I can't help but crack up laughing. Tears stream down my face as minutes pass. Finally, I stop and gasp for air.
'Actual fucken Disney princess,' I manage to get out before turning and walking out into the forest back to where Val and I were before.
'Says you! You're also a Disney Princess!' Val laughs after me. I stop walking, the laughter dying. I turn and walk back into the clearing. The animals disappear. Val stops laughing as she sees me.
'Oh come on Ray. I was only joking.'
'How many times have I told you, you don't joke about that stuff with me.'
'Oh, so you can joke about it but I can't. How is that fair?'
'Girls,' Thor calls out.
We ignore him.
'Come one Raven, you need to loosen up and learn to live a little bit.'
I scoff and kick at the ground. Ice spreads instantly.
'Shit,' I swear. I look over at Val. 'Val,' I try to warn her but she ignores me.
'Really Raven, someone tries to joke around and have fun with you but you can't do that. You instantly go back-'
'Valarie?' I call out fear eating into my voice.
'You know what. Why are we even friends? Honestly. All you care about is yourself. You have never once cared about anyone else. You pretend you do. You had me so fooled that you had changed...that you weren't going to keep starting up these petty little fights but I guess some people can just never change!'
I shake my head, turn and walk over to the trees.
'Yeah that's right you just walk away like how you always do with every single one of your problems,' Val calls after me.
I groan and spin back around. 'I don't. I only do it to protect you. Everything I do is to protect you!'
'I don't need you to protect me anymore. I never needed you to protect me.'
'Really how many times were you nearly killed by the other kids? By the foster parents? By the people that keep attacking Asgard? The people that kidnapped you?'
'And none of that would have ever happened if you insisted on protecting me from the moment you saw me.'
'I saw you unconscious, bleeding out on the ground. You were only eight Valarie! What was I supposed to do?' I catch the gloves Loki throws me and pull them on. It helps. A little bit. The ice continues to spread but at a slower rate.
'GIRLS! STOP FIGHTING!' Thor thunders.
'Oh, shut up!' I hiss at him. 'None of this would have happened if you had just kept her up in Asgard!'
'Raven!' Loki yells at me.
'GO AWAY FOR FUCK SAKE!' I scream back at him.
'Fuck this. You aren't worth it .We need to stop doing this every time you slightly get triggered,' Val says as she walks away.
'Says the girl that gets triggered every time someone mentions a dead dog or a dead baby,' I call after her.
She spins and around and next thing I know I'm falling backwards on the grounds.
'GIRLS!'
'PISS OFF!' we yell. I wrench my gloves off as I stand up and throw them on to the ground.
