Hours later, I sit next to her bed waiting for her to wake up. I watch as her hand twitches and slowly her eyes open.
'Hey, you're awake,' I smile gently at her. She stares blankly at the ceiling above her for a minute until her eyes meet mine.
'What were you yelling about?'
'Oh, you heard that?'
She shakes her head. 'Only heard yelling.'
'Alec wanted all of us to leave while he was healing you. I didn't want to leave you.'
'He waited until you left didn't he?'
I reminded silent.
'You should have just left when he asked you.'
'I didn't want to leave you. I didn't want to not be there incase you died again.'
'You have that little faith in Alec. Are you for real. He has my abilities Raven. He could even nearly bring anyone back from the dead.'
'That's all well and good but why did he ask to leave. He didn't have any right to.'
'Leave him alone. You don't have any right to judge him.'
'Why not? You all judge me all the time.'
'BECAUSE RAVEN. He's the reason I smile any more. He's helped me this whole time. He's not only my husband but he's also my friend. He's my hero.'
I drop my gaze to the floor. 'So was I,' I tell her as tears prickle in my eyes. I spin around and run off, leaving the front door to slam behind me. As I leave, I touch my watch and let the stark-suit cover my body. I run through the forest internally sighing in relief as I don't turn anything to ice or snow. I run into a clearing, stumbling as my body burns and tingles from trying to keep the energy from lashing out. Falling to the ground I can't help but scream as the pain builds up with unknown energy until it finally leaves.
The snow whips around, ice shards grow off every surface around us. Val shivers and lights herself on fire but the snow and cold make her falmes weak and barely noticeable. I drop to my knees in the snow.
'Raven. It's fine. You can let yourself cry. It's going to be okay.'
A single tear falls down my face only to freeze on my cheek.
'Raven. Shh it's okay. Take deep breaths. You can gain control of this.'
Broken sobs echo through my mouth for a minute as Valarie kneels down next to me.
'Raven, it's okay. Take deep breaths. Shhh,' she attempts to calm me like I'm one of her children. She gently rubs my shoulders while I rub my face as I attempt to calm myself down. At first nothing happens but then my breathing slows down. The snow stops spinning.
'Well, you have some power in you,' she gives a small laugh.
I manage a small grin before groaning. 'My head is killing me.'
'No wonder why, look around yourself,' Val says. I look around and see snow and ice everywhere. I pitch forwards then slump into the snow.
My head lolls backwards as I'm shaked roughly.
'Fug off,' I manage to finally get out through my pounding head.
'Oh thank fuck,' she stops shaking me. 'Let's get you home and into a warm bath.'
I look past her shoulder as Loki rides his horse through the snow, his cape covered in snow flakes. His worried eyes find mine and the fear in his face dissolves. I smirk a little at how natural he looks riding through snow, looking for me.
He reins in his horse and quickly ties it off before making his way other to me.
His eyes quickly gaze over me and over Val. He takes in Val's shaking body. He takes his cloak off and drapes it over her.
'You okay Val?'
She nods mutely.
'How about you go home and rest. I can look after drama queen,' Loki orders as he pulls me up out of the snow and dusts the snow off me. I rest my head on his shoulder as Val leaves.
'So that stark suit didn't quite prevent everything did it?'
'Stops it until it gets too much.'
'Once we get back to your room, how about you take off your suit and give it to me. Tony and I will continue working on it.'
I nod and watch as he unties his horse. He gestures for me to get up first.
'You take the horse back. I'll meet you in your room soon,' he says. I take the reins and give him one last questioning look before letting the horse find its way back to the stables.
I slide off the horse and hand the reigns over to the stable boy and I look up at my balcony. I groan, take a deep breath and teleport into my room. I collapse onto my bed only for my bedroom door to open. I groan and lift my head as a maid comes in and starts running a bath.
'Your father said to tell you that he will be here after you've had a bath and changed.'
I nod and rest my head.
I pull my softest blanket off my bed and wrap it around me. I grab a book off my bookcase and curl up on my chair next to the window and start reading only for someone to knock on the door.
'Come in,' I call out as I continue reading. I look up as my father slowly walks in. He takes the seat across from me and sighs deeply. I close my book as he rests his hands on his knees.
'Raven, it's time we talked.'
