"Takeda-sensei, when is the match?" Ukai asked, his tone serious.
"Next week, on Wednesday," Takeda replied. "Since the practice match is coming up soon, I'd like to discuss your positions." He took a deep breath before continuing.
"I've been thinking about this... (Y/n), could you switch with Tanaka and play in the official match?" Takeda asked, his expression firm.
"What? But I can't! He's the official one!" (Y/n) said, worry flashing across her face.
"No, it's okay, (Y/n). You should play—you're stronger than I am," Tanaka said, giving her an encouraging smile.
"But..." She hesitated, sighing softly.
"How about this," she suggested after a moment of thought, "Tanaka can play the first round, and I'll take the second one?"
Ukai considered her idea, stroking his chin. "Hmm... That's a good compromise. What do you think, Tanaka? It's just a practice match, after all."
"That works for me. Thanks, (Y/n)," Tanaka said, his warm smile returning.
"And for the official match, I'd like (Y/n) to play," Ukai added.
(Y/n) looked at Tanaka, uncertain. "If you're exhausted or anything, just signal me, and we can switch. Don't worry," Tanaka assured her with a grin.
"Okay then. Thank you, Tanaka," she said, smiling at him.
"Anything for you," he replied with a grin, their smiles reflecting their mutual respect.
Later, (Y/n) changed back into her school uniform, adjusting her skirt and necktie before heading out. When she stepped outside, the boys were already waiting for her.
"Have you guys been waiting long?" she asked, a bit worried.
"Nope, you're just in time," Hinata replied with his usual bright smile.
"Then let's go," Kageyama said curtly, and the group headed to Ukai's shop together.
At the shop, Daichi bought pork buns for everyone. "Here's yours," he said, handing one to (Y/n).
"Thank you," she said, accepting it gratefully. She munched on the warm bun as they all chatted and laughed, walking together through the cool evening air.
Eventually, (Y/n) stopped in her tracks. "Guys, this is where I turn off," she said, pointing down her street.
"Alright, see you tomorrow at school, (Y/n)-san!" Hinata said, waving energetically.
"See you guys tomorrow," (Y/n) waved back with a smile.
"See ya," Kageyama added as she began walking down her street alone.
As (Y/n) walked home, her thoughts drifted. "I wonder how Hubby is doing," she murmured to herself.
"Who?" a voice suddenly asked from behind her.
(Y/n) jumped, spinning around. "Ah! You scared the life out of me!"
Standing before her was a tall boy with messy black hair, some strands falling lazily over his half-lidded eyes. His gaze was sharp yet oddly familiar, reminding her of... Hubby.
"Sorry for scaring you," he said with a grin.
"It's fine," she replied, still catching her breath. "Just... don't do that again."
He chuckled. "Are you new here? I haven't seen you around before."
"Yeah, I just moved back here with my dad," she explained, gesturing toward the house she'd lived in as a child.
"Ah, then we're neighbors now," he said, pointing to the house next door. Her heart skipped a beat—Hubby used to live there.
"I'm Kuroo Tetsurou," he introduced himself, extending a hand.
"(L/n) (Y/n). Nice to meet you," she said, shaking his hand.
As she glanced at her watch, her eyes widened. "Oh no, I need to get going to make dinner," she said, quickly moving toward her gate.
"Alright, then," Kuroo said, stepping back.
"It was nice meeting you, Kuroo," (Y/n) said warmly as she opened the gate.
"Nice meeting you too, (Y/n)-chan. See you around," he replied, waving as she went inside.
"See you," she said with a small smile before disappearing into the house.
