The day before leaving for Tokyo for a practice match with Nekoma, (Y/n) found herself wrapped up in the usual chaos of Karasuno's intense volleyball practices. The past few days had been exhausting, leaving her little time to see her neighbor, Kuroo. She hadn't even exchanged a casual hello with him.
Now, sitting at her desk with her window open, she focused on finishing her homework.
"Hey, (Y/n)-chan~," a familiar voice called out. Startled, she turned her head to see Kuroo leaning casually out of his window with a grin.
"Oh, hey Kuroo," she replied before turning back to her notes, trying to ignore his teasing smirk.
"Where've you been the past few days? Your room's been dark," he asked, his tone playful yet curious.
"I had practice with my club, so I came home late. Why?" She glanced at him, a sly smile tugging at her lips. "Missed me?"
"Of course I missed you. I wanted to talk to you," he said without missing a beat, his grin widening.
"Oh, I see," she said, packing her books into her bag.
"What club are you in?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.
"Volleyball," she answered simply, zipping up her bag.
"Really? Me too—"
Before he could finish, her dad's voice interrupted.
"(Y/n), can you help me with something?" he called from downstairs.
"Coming!" she shouted back, turning to Kuroo. "Sorry, I have to go now. See you tomorrow." She waved at him with a small smile.
"But I want to talk more~," he whined, his tone mock-pouting.
"Sorry, my dad needs me," she said apologetically.
"Fine. See you later," he sighed, standing up from his chair.
"See ya." With another wave, she closed her window and headed downstairs.
"Dad, what do you need?" she asked, walking into the living room.
"Can you help me pick a suit?" he said, gesturing toward a few options laid out on the couch.
"Yeah, sure. Going somewhere important?" she asked while examining the suits.
"I've been invited to dinner with my boss tomorrow," he explained, straightening his posture.
She nodded, holding up a sleek black suit. "I like this one."
"Good choice," he said, giving her a warm smile. "Thanks, honey. You're leaving for Tokyo tomorrow, right? You should get some rest so you're not tired."
"Got it. Goodnight, Dad."
"Goodnight," he said as she headed back upstairs.
Before crawling into bed, (Y/n) peeked out of her window and noticed that Kuroo's room was dark.
"Guess he already went to sleep," she murmured, turning off her lights and letting sleep take her.
The next morning, (Y/n) woke up and stretched, feeling the anticipation of the match buzzing in her chest. After brushing her teeth, she went downstairs to find her dad making breakfast.
"Ohayo, Dad," she greeted, sitting at the table.
"Ohayo," he replied, setting a plate of pancakes in front of her.
"Thanks," she said with a smile, quickly digging in.
"I'm off now," her dad said as he put on his shoes.
"Mhm," she mumbled through a bite, giving him a wave.
"Good luck with your match! See you later," he called as he stepped out.
(Y/n) washed her plate and headed back to her room to change into her Karasuno tracksuit, T-shirt, and jacket. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she locked the door behind her and turned to leave—only to freeze in surprise.
Kuroo stood there, a smug grin on his face.

What the hell is he still doing here?
"Ohayo, (Y/n)-chan!" he greeted cheerfully.
"Ohayo..." she replied cautiously.
"Heading to school?"
She nodded, avoiding his gaze.
"Let's walk together, then," he offered, falling into step beside her.
"Don't you take the train?"
"Yeah, but I've got 20 minutes to spare," he said with a shrug.
She hummed in response, keeping her eyes forward. "You're in Nekoma High School, right?"
"Yup," he said, stealing a glance at her.
"Please don't let him be in volleyball. Please..." she prayed silently.
"What year are you in?" he asked, breaking the silence.
"First year. You?"
"Third year," he said with a smirk. "Guess that makes me your senpai, huh?"
She nodded slightly. "I have to turn this way now."
"Alright. See you later," he said, giving her a playful wave.
"See you," she replied, waving back as she hurried off toward school.
