(Y/n) stepped into the large gymnasium with the Karasuno boys. "Are you sure you're okay?" Tsukki asked, his gaze lowering to her with clear concern.
"What do you mean? I'm fine," she nervously laughed, avoiding eye contact with him. She couldn't bring herself to meet his eyes.
"(Y/n), you sprained—"
"Cutie pie!" Usui called out from across the room.
"(Y/n)!" Her heart skipped a beat as she quickly went toward him, eager to escape Tsukki's scrutiny.
Saved.
"Onii-chan!" she greeted, smiling as he patted her head. "You finally made it to the 3rd round. Mom and Dad would be proud," she hummed, still smiling.
Usui's eyes swept over her, taking in her appearance. His gaze narrowed when he noticed the bandage wrapped around her left ankle.
"You... sprained your ankle?" he asked, his voice tinged with concern.
"M-Me? N-No, I just accidentally scratched my leg," (Y/n) stammered, looking away nervously, but Usui didn't buy it.
"(Y/n), don't lie," he said sternly, grabbing her wrist and glaring at her.
"I'm n-not lying!" she denied, still not daring to meet his eyes.
"(Y/n)-"
"(Y/n)-san! Let's go! Everyone's already left!" Noya waved enthusiastically, and (Y/n) quickly yanked her wrist from Usui's grasp and ran toward him.
I can't deal with this right now.
She grabbed Noya's wrist. "Let's go?" she asked, trying to distract herself from the conversation.
Noya blushed and nodded, and they ran together toward the hall.
Shit, it hurts.
(Y/n) frowned slightly as the pain in her ankle flared up again.
"There you are! Now, go stretch yourselves!" Daichi called, his voice clear and commanding.
"Hai!" the team responded, getting into position.
(Y/n) stretched slowly, wincing as her left ankle throbbed. She glanced down and widened her eyes in alarm. "Shoot! I forgot to apply the pain-relieving cream!" she muttered under her breath, facepalming. "Good job, (Y/n)."
"The match is starting. Line up!" Daichi called out, snapping her back to reality.
(Y/n) slowly stood up, taking a deep breath, and positioned herself next to Yamaguchi, facing off against Nekoma. "Let's play," she whispered, bowing.
The match began.
(Y/n) was serving first. Tsukki's worried voice reached her ear. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine," she smiled up at him, though it didn't reach her eyes. Her ankle was already starting to flare up again, but she couldn't show weakness.
The referee blew the whistle, and (Y/n) took a deep breath before tossing the ball into the air. She jumped and hit the ball with all her strength. But when she landed, the pain in her ankle hit her like a ton of bricks. "Shit. You can do this, (Y/n). Just push through," she told herself, gritting her teeth as she repositioned.
16-18
The match was still tight, and (Y/n) gritted her teeth, trying to focus. But the pain in her ankle was becoming unbearable.
"(Y/n), you can't mess this up," she whispered to herself, trying to ignore the throbbing pain.
Kuroo watched her closely, noticing the bandage on her ankle. His eyes widened in concern. "Don't tell me..." he muttered under his breath.
Usui, who had been taking pictures, stopped and looked over at her, his expression softening with worry. "Cutie pie... you're pushing yourself too hard," he said, crossing his arms, still watching her intently.
Synchronized attack
(Y/n) ran and jumped high, her focus entirely on the game. Kageyama set the ball perfectly for her, and she slammed it with all her strength. But when the ball hit the ground, the referee called it.
"Out!"
"(Y/n)!!" Tsukki shouted, his voice full of panic. The entire team turned toward her, eyes wide with shock.
(Y/n) was on the ground, clutching her ankle in agony.
"(Y/n)! Are you okay?" Tsukki's voice trembled as he rushed to her side, his face pale.
"I'll take her to the infirmary," Kiyoko said quickly, kneeling next to her.
"Can you stand up?" Daichi asked gently, his tone full of concern.
"I'll help her," Kiyoko offered, wrapping an arm around (Y/n)'s shoulders to help her to her feet.
"I'm sorry," (Y/n) mumbled, looking down, guilt filling her chest.
Daichi patted her shoulder softly. "It's okay, just leave it to us."
(Y/n) nodded, a small, sad smile tugging at her lips. "Let's go," she murmured.
As she stood up, (Y/n) met Kuroo's gaze for a brief moment. She gave him a hopeless smile before she turned away, being guided toward the infirmary room by Kiyoko.
