Day 6
"(Y/n)!!"
A loud scream echoed in (Y/n)'s mind as she jolted awake, gasping for air. Sweat drenched her body, and her head throbbed painfully. She blinked, disoriented, trying to shake off the remnants of the nightmare that had haunted her sleep.
She glanced around the room, her vision blurry. The sun had already risen, and from the sounds outside, she could tell everyone had already left. A strange unease settled in her stomach. "Everyone is already up," she muttered weakly to herself, forcing herself to sit up, though the dizziness nearly made her collapse again. She pressed her hand to her forehead. "Did I catch a cold?"
Shaking off the dizziness, she quickly changed into her sports clothes, though she felt no appetite for food. Her stomach churned as she left the room and headed straight to the gym, hoping the air would clear her head.
As soon as (Y/n) entered, the bustling noise of the boys practicing hit her like a wave. "Ohayo!" she greeted them, trying to muster a smile despite the headache that seemed to pulse louder with each passing second.
"Good morning, (Y/n)-san!" Coach and the managers waved at her from across the room.
"Why didn't you guys wake me up?" she asked, her voice thin.
"I was about to," Kiyoko explained, "but you looked so tired yesterday. We figured you could use the rest."
"Thank you," (Y/n) said with a small smile, though she felt far from okay. "Are you sure you're alright, (Y/n)-san? You look really pale," Yachi said, her voice full of concern.
"I'm fine," (Y/n) reassured her with a quick nod, not wanting to burden anyone with her exhaustion. "Just a little dizzy."
The boys were excited to play, their usual energy brightening the atmosphere as they continued with their drills.
"Good morning!" Hinata grinned widely, running toward her.
"Good morning," (Y/n) replied, her smile a little more genuine this time.
"(Y/n)-san, let's play the next round together!" Hinata said eagerly, and despite the overwhelming wave of exhaustion, she nodded in agreement.
"Karasuno, next practice is with Nekoma," Coach called out, and everyone responded with an enthusiastic "Hai!!"
But (Y/n) wasn't quite as enthusiastic. The pounding in her head made everything feel distant.
As the game began, (Y/n) took her position, the dizziness still gnawing at her. The world around her seemed hazy. "I can't let anyone down," she thought, forcing herself to push through the pain.
"Are you okay?" Tsukki's voice cut through her foggy thoughts as he noticed how pale she had become. His eyes lingered on her for a moment, his concern evident.
"I'm fine," (Y/n) lied, offering a weak smile. She could hear the referee's whistle, signaling the start of the game, but it felt like everything was happening in slow motion.
She was serving the ball, but as she held it, the dizziness hit her again. Her head spun, and her vision blurred as she tried to steady herself. Taking a few deep breaths, she finally tossed the ball into the air and hit it, though her movements were sluggish, lacking their usual precision. The ball sailed to the opposite side of the court, where Nekoma's libero easily received it and passed it to Kenma.
Kenma set up the ball for Kuroo, who spiked it with incredible force, sending it toward her side. As the ball sailed through the air, (Y/n)'s vision wavered, but she focused, determined to stay in the game. She managed to receive it, but her hands were trembling.
"Shit," she cursed under her breath, her headache intensifying.
She watched as the ball was returned to Nekoma's court, where Kuroo once again went for a spike. This time, their eyes met mid-air. Kuroo's gaze softened as he noticed how unsteady she looked, beads of sweat lining her face. Her hands were shaking, her breath ragged, but she gritted her teeth and received the ball again.
"Focus," she told herself, but it was getting harder.
The game continued, but (Y/n)'s head was pounding, each movement making it worse. She wiped the sweat from her forehead, feeling the heat rising within her body. Her heart raced, not from excitement, but from the overwhelming sensation of dizziness that threatened to overwhelm her.
"(Y/n)-san, are you okay?" Asahi's concerned voice snapped her back to reality. He had come up beside her, his expression worried. But she only managed a strained smile, too exhausted to answer properly.
"I'm fine," she muttered, but the words felt empty even to her.
The game raged on, but every movement felt like it was taking more out of her than it should. Kuroo tossed the ball into the air again, jumping to spike it. She could barely keep up, but she leaped to meet it. As the ball soared through the air, her head throbbed violently, and it felt like everything around her was spinning.
"Shit, shit, shit," she thought, barely registering her own body as she missed the ball completely.
Before she could even process the miss, the world tilted. Her vision went black as her body gave way to the overwhelming exhaustion, her legs buckling beneath her as she collapsed to the floor.
"PUMPKIN!"
Her name echoed through the gym as Kuroo's voice cut through the panic. Her body felt like it was on fire, the heat suffocating her as she lay on the floor, barely conscious.
"(Y/n)!!"
"Wake up, please!"
"Let's take her to the infirmary room! Hurry!"
"I'll carry her!" Kuroo's voice was panicked as he kneeled beside her, his hands trembling as he gently shook her.
"(Y/n)..." His voice was a whisper now, full of desperation. "Please, don't... don't leave me."
Her lips parted, and the last word she managed to whisper, barely audible, was a name she didn't even know if she should be saying anymore.
"Hubby..."
And then everything went dark.
