a few weeks later
AMELIAS POV
I woke up to the alarm. I rolled over into a pile of sheets, not Owen.
"Owen?" I mumbled and hit snooze on the alarm clock.
"Good morning," I heard him say. I opened my eyes and he came into the bedroom holding a cup of coffee.
"Good morning," I smiled and sat up, "what's the occasion?"
"There is none," he said and sat down and handed me the cup, "just wanted to say I love you and bring you a cup of coffee."
"I love you too," I smiled and kissed him.
"What time do you get off work today?" He asked.
"3, I'll go get Riley after school for her appointment with Lilith right?" I asked, "I'll get Noah too and drop him off on our way back to the hospital."
"Yeah that sounds good," he said. Riley has been doing therapy for about 3 weeks and I think it's working. She still is having some nightmares but she has been able to sleep in her own room which is good. The alarm clock went off again to interrupt my thoughts and I got up with Owen to walk downstairs to make breakfast for the kids. Owen was making waffles and Logan came downstairs first.
"Good morning buddy," I said and hugged him.
"Good morning," he said. Ava and Olivia came down next and then Liam.
"Anyone have anything exciting today at school?" Owen asked and handed them plates.
"No," Olivia said.
"Can Jamie come over after school?" Liam asked. I looked at Owen and nodded.
"Yeah I'll be home," Owen said.
"No fair I want to meet her!" I said.
"Well mom I'll make sure she comes over again when you're home," Liam chuckled.
"Okay," I chuckled.
"Is she your girlfriend yet?" Logan joked.
"No," Liam said.
"Can you just ask her out already," Olivia chuckled.
"Yeah actually," Ava said.
"Okay okay I will maybe," Liam said, "I don't know." I got everyone's lunch out of the fridge and put them on the counter. Ava and Liam left together and then Olivia and Logan. Owen was washing the dishes and I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around him.
"You get to meet Jamie no fair," I complained.
"I'm the one who has to work a night shift," Owen chuckled.
"True," I said, "you have to tell me about her."
"I'll take notes," he joked.
"Shut up," I chuckled.
LIAMS POV
I invited Jamie over after school and I was kinda nervous. We have been going on a few lunch dates but I don't know if we're like dating. I want to ask her out but I'm nervous to. Ava pulled into our parking spot and got out.
"So you're bringing Jamie over after school," she said.
"Yeah," I said.
"Can you stop being a goof and ask her out," she chuckled.
"Maybe," I said.
"Why not?" Ava said, "you obviously like her."
"I know," I said. Justin walked over and kissed Ava and that was my cue to leave. I walked down the hallway and went to my locker and grabbed my books for the first part of my day. My phone buzzed and it was Jamie.
"Good morning," it read. I smiled and sent good morning back. She always woke up later than me because her school started a half an hour behind mine. I closed my locker and walked upstairs to my first class.
AMELIAS POV
I was in my office taking notes on a patient when my door opened. I looked up and it was Link.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey," he said. We were kinda friends. Kinda. I mean it has been 17 years since I've dumped him, He's probably gotten over it. He's dated a few girls in the meantime.
"What's up?" I said.
"Can you do a consult for my patient?" He asked.
"Sure when do you need it by?" I said and took the folder from him.
"Just by this afternoon," he said.
"Okay I'll do it within the next hours," I said.
"Okay thanks," he said.
"No problem," I said.
"Can I ask you a question?" He said and sat down.
"Sure thing," I said.
"Well you know Lilith Dolan," he said.
"Yes and?" I said.
"Is she single?" He said.
"No way!" I said.
"Amelia answer the question," he chuckled.
"I think so," I said, "I mean she doesn't have a ring."
"Alright," he said.
"Ask her out you won't," I joked. He chuckled and smiled.
"I will," he said and got up.
"Good luck," I said.
"Thanks," he said.
"I will get you that consult," I said.
"Thank you," he said as he talked out. I went back on my computer and my phone rang. I looked over and it was Owen.
"Hi," I smiled.
"Hey," he said.
"Kids home?" I asked.
"Yes, all 4," he said.
"Jamie there," I said.
"Stop being nosey," he chuckled, "but yes."
"Is she nice?" I asked.
"Yes, very polite, introduced herself to me," he said.
"That's good," I said, "what does she look like?"
"Blonde," Owen said.
"That's it? Blonde?" I chuckled.
"She's about your height," he chuckled, "probably taller."
"Alright good enough," I chuckled.
"Are you still good to pick up Riley and Noah?" He asked.
"Yeah I just have to get a consult done and then I'm leaving," I said.
"Okay sounds good," he said.
"And then I'll come back with Riley," I said.
"Okay," He said.
"I gotta go do a consult I'll see you at home," I said, "I love you."
"I love you too," He said.

Riley was done with her therapy appointment and Lilith told me that they're making a lot of progress together which is good.
"Mommy where do you do your surgeries?" Riley asked as we were walking in the hospital.
"On the floor above us," I said.
"Can I see?" She asked.
"We'll they're all booked right now," I said, "maybe next week when you come I can show you."
"Okay," she said.
"I can show you my office," I said. Her face lit up and she smiled.
"Okay!" She said. I pressed the button and the door opened and Link was in the elevator.
"Hey," he said.
"Hi," I said.
"Hi," Riley smiled.
"Link this is my daughter riley," I said.
"Hi riley it's nice to meet you," he said.
"I left the consult with the nurse I meant to page you," I said.
"I got it thanks," he said.
"No problem," I said. The doors opened and he got out.
"I'll see you," he said, "bye Riley."
"Bye," Riley smiled. The elevator went up to the next floor and walked to my office.
"Mommy where are all your other doctor friends?" She asked as I opened the door.
"Probably doing surgeries," I said as she walked in. She ran over to my spinny chair and sat down.
"That's me!" She smiled and looked at the family picture I had on the desk.
"Yup," I said.
"Is that you and daddy?" She asked and saw a photo of us from when we were dating.
"Yup that's me and daddy," I said.
"Is that Ava and Liam?" She asked and saw a picture of Owen and I with them as toddlers.
"Yup," I said, "and that's you and Logan, Olivia, and Noah." I pointed to the other pictures on my desk.
"This is cool," she said. I chuckled and sat down on the couch in my office.
"Does daddy have an office?" She asked.
"Yup," I said.
"Can I see?" She asked.
"You have to go with him," I chuckled, "it's locked."
"Okay," she nodded.
LIAMS POV
Jamie and I were playing video games in my room. She was so pretty, and I wanted to kiss her. I haven't yet, which is weird because we have gone out on a lot of dates, but I'm just nervous. The game ended and she smiled at me. I smiled too and decided to kiss her. I leaned down and kissed her. I pulled away and she smiled. I kissed her forehead and she leaned into me to continue playing video games. I was so happy. I heard the front door open and I figured it was my mom and Riley coming home from Riley's therapy appointment. I paused the game and Jamie looked at me.
"You have to meet my mom, she would kill me if she didn't," I chuckled.
"Okay," she chuckled and got up. We walked downstairs and my mom was in the kitchen with my dad.
"Hi mom," I said. She smiled when she saw Jamie.
"Hi guys," she said, "you must be Jamie."
"Uh yes hi, nice to meet you Mrs.Hunt," Jamie said.
"Oh it's nice to meet you too," my mom smiled. We went back upstairs and Jamie looked at her phone.
"I'm sorry Liam I have to go pick up my little brother from from my dads house," she said, "but I had a lot of fun and maybe you can come over my house sometime."
"I had a good time too," I smiled. She smiled and leaned in and kissed me. I was so glad I kissed her today. I walked downstairs with her, she said goodbye to my parents and then got in her car. I need to think of a good way to ask her to be my girlfriend. I walked back into the kitchen and my parents were at the counter.
"So?" I said.
"She was nice," my dad said.
"She's adorable, she's so cute," my mom said.
"So you like her?" I said.
"Mhm," my mom said.
"Yeah she was really sweet," My dad said. I smiled and was glad my parents approved of her.
