AVAS POV
It's been a few weeks since my first AA meeting. I've been okay. I'm kinda back to square one, I have like no friends again, except Justin. I love Justin. He's the best. We've stopped going to parties because he said he was worried about me, and I wouldn't be tempted. My mom has been there a lot for me. I'm still grounded, but I'm okay. My mom and dad had long shifts today so I offered to bring riley to the hospital for her therapy session today.
"Riley!" I said, "are you ready?"
"Yes!" She said and came out of her room with a notebook and a small bag.
"You need anything else?" I asked.
"No," she said and went downstairs to but her shoes and jacket on.
"LOGAN! LIAM!" I yelled.
"WHAT!" They yelled back.
"Riley and I are leaving!" I said.
"Okay!" They said. I grabbed my keys and shoes and Riley and I got in the car.
"Do you know where you're going in the hospital?" I asked, I've only been there a few times and I sure as hell didn't know where the therapy room was.
"Yeah we're going to the third floor at the end of the hall and making two rights," she said.
"Perfect," I said. She played on her iPad while I drove to the hospital. We parked and walked in the lobby and it was so hectic, probably an overflow from the ER. I looked over and saw my mom and Uncle Derek looking at a patient and I didn't know where my dad was, I figured they were crammed with the overflow of patients.
"Third floor?" I asked Riley.
"Yeah," She said. We got in the elevator and it stopped at the second floor. A man got in and he was probably my dads age.
"Hi Link," Riley said, didn't know she knew him.
"Hi Riley," Link said.
"I'm ava," I said.
"Link," he said.
"Nice to meet you," I said, "do you know if my parents are busy?"
"Your father was pulled into surgery and Amelia- I mean your mom is in the ER," He said. The elevator stopped on the third floor.
"Thanks," I said and Riley and I walked out.
"How do you know him?" I asked.
"I met him a few appointments ago," she said.
"Where's the room?" I asked.
"At the end of the hall and 2 rights," she said.
"Okay," I said. We walked down the hallway and got to the room. I knocked on the door and a therapist came out, I figured it was Riley's I don't know.
"Hi, you must be Riley's older sister Ava, your parents told me you would be coming today," she said.
"Uh yes I'm ava," I said, "nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too, I'm Dr.Dolan," she said and shook my hand.
"Ava you have to wait over there," Riley said and pointed to a chair.
"Okay," I said, "good luck."
AMELIAS POV
The ER was so hectic. I was doing a bunch of neuro consults and end a few head CTs. Ava brought Riley to therapy today which was a big help.
"Shepherd!" April Kepner yelled.
"Yeah?" I said and turned around.
"Hunt needs you in trauma 2," she said.
"Thanks," I said and opened the door and Owen was looking at x rays.
"Hey what's up?" I said.
"Can you check his pupils?" He asked.
"Yeah sure," I said.
"Hi I'm John," the patient said, "and you're really pretty." I chuckled and grabbed my flashlight.
"John I need you to follow my finger," I said.
"Okay," he said. He followed my finger perfectly and his pupils looked fine.
"You're pretty," he said again.
"You already said that," Owen said. I chuckled and with that I cleared him in his chart.
"Hey I'm gonna go check on Riley and Ava," I said to Owen as I walked out.
"Okay," he nodded.
OWENS POV
"She's pretty," John said.
"She's married," I said.
"That's a shame," he said. I was looking at his x-rays and he had a broken leg, so I paged Callie.
"Not for me," I said and walked out of the room as Callie came in for an evaluation. I saw Amelia get in an elevator to go upstairs to check on the girls. I looked around the ER and there were so many traumas. My pager buzzed and it was from Bailey, 911 surgery. I ran up the stairs and scrubbed in with her, but when I walked into the OR I recognized the patient. It was soup boy, Nick, again. This time he was internally bleeding, a blow to the stomach. I was so worried about him. CPS bought the bullshit story the mother gave last time, but this time I wasn't sure.
AMELIAS POV
I saw Ava sitting in the corner on her computer doing homework.
"Hey," I said. She looked up and smiled.
"Hey," she said.
"You guys get here okay? The ER is backed up like crazy," I said.
"Yeah we were good," she said, "if it's so backed up what are you doing up here." She chuckled and I smiled.
"I have a few minutes," I said.
"Do you have any surgeries?" She asked.
"I have Craniotomy at 5," I said, "then I'll be home."
"Are those long?" She asked.
"Depends," I shrugged, "I hope not."
"Amelia," I heard. I looked over and it was Bailey.
"Hey I gotta go, I'll see you at home okay, let me know how Riley's session went," I said.
"Of course," she said. I got up and walked over to Bailey.
"You're going to want to see these scans," she said and handed me them.
"We need to operate," I said. She nodded and booked an OR.
LOGANS POV
There was some huge car crash or something today, mom and dad told me there was a lot of patients in the ER. Ava and Riley came home from Riley's therapy session and I was making dinner with Olivia.
"Hey what's for dinner?" Ava said as she walked into the kitchen.
"Pasta," Olivia said, "is the ER swamped?"
"Yeah," Ava said.
"That stinks," I said.
"Yeah," Ava said.
"Can you go tell Liam, Noah and Riley that dinner is ready?" I told her.
"Yeah sure," Ava said. Olivia and I set the table and everyone came downstairs. It was weird having dinner without our parents, it rarely happened that neither one of them was home.
"Riley how was therapy?" Olivia asked.
"Good," she said.
"That's good," Olivia said.
"I had a math test today," Noah said.
"Ew math," olivia said.
"Was it easy?" I asked.
"Yeah," noah nodded.
"My math test wasn't easy," Liam chuckled.
"Same," Ava said. We finished dinner and Liam and Ava were cleaning the dishes when the front door opened.
"I'm home," my mom said and walked into the kitchen.
"Hey," I said.
"Hi guys how was your day?" She asked.
"Good," we said.
"That's good," she said.
AMELIAS POV
The kids already ate and Owen was gonna be another hour or two, the ER was crazy today. I was watching TV in bed while eating dinner when my door opened.
"Mommy?" Noah said.
"Yes baby?" I said.
"Can you sign this for school?" He asked.
"Yeah sure," I said. He ran over to my bed and gave me a piece of paper, it was some movie permission slip. I grabbed a pen off my nightstand and signed it.
"Thank you," he said.
"You're welcome," I said and kissed his head. I finished eating dinner and walked downstairs and Logan and Liam were playing video games in the living room. I heard the front door unlock and I turned to see Owen.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey," he smiled and walked over to me. I pecked his lips and I could tell he was distracted by something.
"Hey guys how was school?" He asked.
"Good," Logan and Liam said. He walked into the kitchen and I followed him.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"He was back today," Owen said.
"Who?" I said.
"Nick," Owen said, "he had a blow to the stomach with internal bleeding and a broken rib, I had to operate on him today."
"That poor boy," I said.
"I know," he said, "some people shouldn't have children."
"I agree," I said.
"I'm worried about him," he said, "I called CPS and Bailey and Meredith are keeping a close eye on him."
"You did the right thing honey," I said and kissed his cheek, "are you hungry?"
"Yeah," he nodded, I could tell how upset he was. He put his arm around me and I wrapped my arms around his waist.
"It'll be okay," I said, "I promise, it'll be okay Owen."
"Hey that's my line," he chuckled. I chuckled and saw his smile, his cute smile, god I love Owen.
