DEREKS POV
Meredith and I were cooking dinner in Amelia and Owen's house. Amelia was sitting at the counter silently staring off into space. Owen needs to wake up. He has to. Why hasn't he? I looked over at Amelia and she hadn't moved.
"Amy dinner is ready," I said. She didn't say anything and Meredith frowned.
"I'll get the kids," Meredith said and kissed me.
"Thanks," I said. I stood in front of Amelia so she was forced to look at me.
"Hey," I said softly. She didn't say anything and put her head in her hands.
"Can you stay here tonight?" She asked, "you and Meredith?"
"Yes," I said. The doorbell rang and Amelia got up. She opened the door to Evelyn and Amelia started crying.
AMELIAS POV
I hugged Evelyn and started crying.
"I'm so sorry I came as soon as I could," she said, she had recently been vacationing in LA.
"It's okay," I said.
"How is he doing?" She asked.
"He hasn't woken up," I said. She wrapped her arms around me again and I started crying again.
"He's strong, we all know that, he'll get through this," Evelyn said. I nodded and we walked into the kitchen and the kids were eating dinner. I wasn't even hungry. All I wanted was Owen. I sat down next to Derek and picked at my food until everyone was done eating. Evelyn and Meredith were cleaning dishes and Derek sat down next to me.
"Amelia you have to eat," he said.
"It's fine," I said.
"Amelia," Evelyn said, "I know you're stubborn but you need to eat something honey."
"See," Derek said. I reluctantly ate dinner and then cleaned my dish and went upstairs. I heard the kids down the hall in Liam's room. I opened the door and they were sitting on his bed and couch.
"Hi," I said.
"Hi," Liam said, "you wanna talk?"
"Yeah," I said and sat down next to Riley and she climbed into my lap.
"He'll be okay right? I mean it's dad, he'll wake up right?" Ava said.
"Let's hope," I said.
"Do you think he will? I mean you're a neurosurgeon," Olivia said.
"I don't want to look at the scans," I said, "Derek did."
"Okay," Olivia nodded.
"When are we going back to the hospital?" Noah asked.
"In the morning when there's visitor hours," I said.
"Okay," Noah nodded.
"Is grandma staying?" Logan asked.
"Yeah," I said, "everyone's staying."
-
I said goodnight to the kids and then walked down to the guest room where Evelyn was staying.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey," she said.
"You're coming to the hospital with us in the morning right?" I said.
"Of course," she said and hugged me, "He's a fighter, he'll wake up."
"He is a fighter isn't he," I smiled.
"He loves you and the kids so much," she said, "he'll wake up."
"I hope," I said, "I really can't do this without him."
"You're not alone my dear," she said and hugged me.
"Thank you," I said crying.
"Of course," she said, "I love you Amelia."
"I love you too," I said.
-
I opened my eyes and I was in my room. I don't even remember coming back up here. I looked at the clock and it was 8, visiting hours were at 9. I showered and got dressed and the kids had school today, I mean it was already 8 they didn't have to go. I brushed my hair and walked downstairs and the house was really quiet. Too quiet.
"Derek?" I said.
"I'm in here," he said. I opened the laundry room door and he was doing laundry.
"Are you doing my laundry?" I chuckled.
"Well yeah," he said, "I'm trying to be helpful."
"You don't have to," I said, "why is the house so quiet are the kids asleep?" I started folding laundry with him.
"They all said they could go to school," he shrugged, "I think it gets their minds off it."
"Must be nice," I said.
"After breakfast you me, Meredith, and Evelyn can go over," he said, "I called the nurses this morning, his vitals are still up but he hasn't woken up."
"At least he's isn't crashing," I said quietly and finished the laundry.
"Yeah," Derek said.
"Can we just go to the hospital," I said.
"You have to eat something," he said, "I will not drive you over there until you do."
"Okay," I nodded, "thanks for doing the laundry."
"Anytime Amy," he said.
-
I was in Owen's room and there was still no change. Meredith and Derek were swamped with the ER again and Bailey and Richard refused to let me work. Evelyn was sitting next to me. I brought my legs into my chest and looked at Owen.
"What type of surgery did he have?" Evelyn said, "I didn't want to bombard Meredith and Derek with questions this morning."
"He had a brain bleed and internal bleeding," I said quietly, "a lot of anesthesia."
"Do you want me to get Riley and Noah from school?" Evelyn asked.
"I can get them it's okay," I said.
"You sure?" She said.
"We could go together," I offered. She smiled and nodded.
LIAMS POV
It was after school and Ava and I were driving to the hospital. I didn't wanna go to school but my siblings thought it would be easier on my mom if we went. I pulled into the parking lot next to Logan and the 4 of us walked in together.
"Hey guys," Someone said. We all turned to see Aunt Maggie.
"Hey," we said.
"The ER is super hectic again why don't I walk you guys upstairs okay?" She said. We all nodded and got in the elevator. I just wanted my dad to wake up, he had to wake up. My mom would never recover if he didn't. I mean they loved each other so much, she would never recover from that. The elevator doors opened and Aunt Maggie opened the door.
"Amelia," Maggie said, "I brought some visitors." My mom looked up and smiled.
"Hey guys," she said and hugged us.
"How is he?" Olivia asked.
"Um he's the same," My mom said, "I mean he's not worse."
"Well at least he's not worse," Logan said.
"Yeah," she said, "yeah that's a good thing."
"Is grandma here too?" I asked.
"Yeah she just went to grab something to eat," My mom said.
"You also need to eat," Ava said.
"I did I promise," my mom said and we sat down by my dads bed. I just needed him to wake up.
