OWENS POV
Today was my day to take Riley to therapy. She seemed to really like it and it was working really well for her which's as good. Amelia was at work right now and I was working another night shift so I was picking Noah and Riley up from school. I walked downstairs and the Olivia and Liam were doing homework in the living room and Logan and Ava were doing homework in the kitchen.
"How was everyone's day at school?" I asked Logan and Ava.
"Good," Logan said.
"Meh," Ava said, "school is annoying."
"How so?" I said.
"I have a spanish project," she said.
"I have a history paper," Logan said.
"Well I'll let you work," I said, "I have to go get Riley and Noah soon."
"Okay," they both nodded. I walked into the living room where Olivia and Liam was.
"And how was your day?" I asked them.
"Stupid," Olivia said.
"Why," I chuckled.
"French, French is stupid," Olivia said.
"Why did you take French everyone takes spanish idiot," Liam said.
"You know your mother speaks a little bit of French," I chuckled.
"Mom speaks French?" Olivia said.
"Yeah, she went to a French speaking pre school," I said.
"That's cool," Liam said.
"Yeah, don't know how much she remembers but, more than the rest of us know," I said.
"I have to write about a hypothetical vacation," she said.
"Well good luck with that," I chuckled. I grabbed my jacket and my keys and walked to my car. I drove over to the elementary school and picked them up.
"How was everyone's day?" I asked.
"I had art class today!" Riley smiled.
"That's cool," I said, "Noah?"
"I played basketball in gym," he said.
"That's good," I said and pulled into the driveway.
"Okay Noah I'm going to bring Riley to therapy, try to get lost of your homework done and if you need help you can ask your siblings or wait for mommy or I to get home," I said.
"Okay," he nodded, "bye daddy I love you!"
"I love you too," I said and unlocked the door for him and made sure everyone was okay. I walked back to the car and drove over to the hospital with Riley. We walked into the hospital and got in the elevator and Riley was kinda quiet.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah," she said.
"You're so quiet," I chuckled.
"Oh," she chuckled. The elevator door opened and we walked down the hallway. We turned the corner and I saw Amelia sitting in one of the chairs in the waiting room. She was so cute, especially in scrubs. She got up and walked over to us and smiled.
"Hi Riley, how was school today?" She said.
"Good," Riley said.
"Are you ready for your appointment?" Amelia asked. Riley nodded and Doctor Dolan's door opened and Riley ran inside. I grabbed Amelias hand and we sat down in the waiting room.
"So how is work?" I asked.
"Pretty light today," she said, "I had two surgeries this morning but that's it."
"Well that's good," I said.
"Yeah," she she. I went on my phone and Amelia got weirdly silent. I looked over at her and her gaze was on a man that just came up in the elevator.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"He looks like my dad," She said softly, "I need to get Derek." She got up and ran down the hall to find him.
AMELIAS POV
I swear he looked just like my father. I needed Derek. I ran down the hall and opened his office door. He was talking to Meredith and I felt like I interrupted their conversation so I felt bad but this was also extremely important.
"You have to see this patient," I said.
"Okay," he said, "what's the case?"
"Well I don't know, but he looks like dad," I said. He was silent and then got up and followed me.
"You're sure?" He asked.
"Yeah it looked like him!" I said. We walked down the hallway and passed his room. Derek looked through the window and nodded back at me.
"That is so weird," I said.
"I know," he said, "did dad have a brother?"
"No idea," I said. We looked into the room again and he looked exactly like him.
"Maybe I'm just seeing things," I said and walked down the hallway back to Owen.
"Definitely not," Derek said, "I'll keep an eye on
him."
"Thanks," I said. I walked back over to Owen and he was on his phone.
"Hey," I said and sat down, Riley was still in therapy.
"You good? You look like you've seen a ghost," Owen said.
"Patient looks like my dead dad," I said.
"That's weird," he said.
"Yeah," I sighed. He put his arm around me and kissed my head.
"Riley is going to want to see your office," I chuckled, "she saw mine last time and she's going to want to see yours."
"That can be arranged," he chuckled, "you wanna come with when's your next surgery?"
"I have time," I said.
-
Riley was done with therapy and she was extremely hyper, she had so much energy, so
I guess her session went well.
"Can we see daddy's office? Please?" She begged.
"Sure let's go upstairs," Owen said. We went upstairs and she looked around his office and I was so distracted about that patient. Owen was showing Riley all the pictures on his desk when I heard my name. I turned and saw Derek.
"He's gone," Derek said and walked in, "there was nothing wrong with him, so weird."
"Yeah," I said, "or we imagined it."
"Yeah okay," he chuckled, "maybe you but I'm
sane."
"Shut up," I chuckled.
"Well, we'll never know," he said.
"Even if it was just a random guy, it was nice to see dad," I said.
"It was, wasn't it," Derek said.
"Yeah," I sighed, "it was."
"I haven't thought about him in a while," Derek sadly admitted, "today just hit different."
"Yeah me too," I said.
"Well I'll always have you," he said and hugged me.
