Jesse

Friday is my favorite day. I have music and art classes on Friday. So time really passed easily.

I skipped down the cobblestone path as I thought about my day. Nothing much happened today but I was relaxed and I didn't feel tired like usual. Dylan and I went to the library and got some new books. I plan to read them today. They're some historical fiction. It's been so long since I've read those types of books.

I saw Tristan with his friend Jake at the college. They smiled at me when they passed by in the hall. I was really surprised when Jake smiled at me. We never talked to each other. Maybe Tristan told him about me?  I couldn't help but smile like an idiot at the thought of Tristan talking about me.

I was so lost in thoughts I didn't even realize that I reached home. I wiped that stupid smile off my face before going inside.

When I went in, Mom and dad were already home and they were dressed up like they were about to go out.

I frowned as I looked at them.

Are they going somewhere? Mom turned to look at me when she heard the sound of our front door closing.

"Oh, Jesse, you're here. We were waiting for you," She smiled before walking up to me.

"You're all dressed up…Where are you going?" I asked while I put my bag on the chair beside me.

"Sweety, aunt Jane is in the hospital. Nothing serious, her delivery date is a little earlier than predicted. So we have to go there. Lisa has to come with us 'cause the kids are home alone. She said she'll look after them till tomorrow. So can you call one of your friends to stay over? We don't want you to be alone here, " Mom asked me while looking a little nervous.

"Chill mom. I'll call Dylan over," I assured her with a soft pat on her back. She worries way too much.

"So can we go now?" I heard Lisa's voice. I turned around to see her walking out of the kitchen.

"When did you get here?" I swear I didn't see her coming in. Did she teleport or something?

"I came before you arrived. A friend dropped me off," She shrugged.

"I cooked dinner so you don't have to make anything. Just heat it up before eating," Mom said before kissing my head. I nodded in reply as I told her not to worry.

"Bye, son, take care," Dad said before ruffling my hair. I smiled and waved goodbye as they walked towards the car.

A few minutes after they went out, I decided to go to my room and freshen up. I took my shorts and a baggy T-shirt to wear.

After I had a shower, I picked up my phone and called Dylan. He picked up at the third ring.

"What's up?!"  He screamed at the phone. I moved the phone away from my ear. This loud idiot!

"Can you come over? I'm alone here,"

"What happened? Where's everyone? "

"My aunt is in the hospital. Mom and dad went there and Lisa is taking care of the kids,"

"Oh... I'm sorry, Jesse, I can't right now. I'm currently on my way to grandma's place and mom is with me,"

"Oh... It's okay. I'll manage, don't worry,"

"Hey! Why don't you call Tristan? I'm sure he'd come,"

"Tristan? I don't know... "

"Come on, call him. He'll come for sure. By the way, I gotta go now, I'm driving,"

"Okay, bye,"

"Bye,"

I sat there staring at the phone in my hands. Dylan can't come…Should I call Tristan? What if he's busy? What if he doesn't want to come?  But I don't wanna be alone and there's no harm in asking right?

I took a deep breath before unlocking my phone. I thought about this for about ten minutes. I should just call him and get this over with. I dialed Tristan's number. He picked up at the fourth ring.

"Jesse?"
