I have no clue where ch. 5 went but I probably kept that in the story and just gave it minor edits, idk anymore.
It was reaching the evening hours of the day. Everyone had arranged their things into their desired rooms. There were actually only 6 bedrooms but enough blankets, couches and inflatable mattresses to have everyone sleep comfortably.
Jirou left her things in a bookbag propped up against a wall, stretching as she wandered downstairs. Just downstairs was the kitchen, with smooth white countertops and orange-brown cabinets. Coming down the stairs and headed right was the living area, with a fireplace and a large T.V. above that. If you continued right it led to the outdoors where a hillside slope introduced you to a spacious concrete patio, where the balcony shaded a grill, picnic table, and a jacuzzi in an opposing corner.
To the left of the stairs was the dinning room with a tall counter and bar stools to connect it. There was a foyer beyond the dinning room which led to the entrance they had all walked in through, piles of shoes were neatly set by the door in cubicle boxes.
Jirou stepped down the stairs, bringing herself up to the counter. She had changed from her pajamas before they left, and was now wearing something more casual. Casual, but not too casual. A random pair of leggings with a red crewneck shirt. Something comfy and soft.
"What's that smell? It smells great," Jirou said as she slid herself into a bar stool. Sato was in the kitchen, bringing out a tray from the oven.
"A casserole," he said happily. "Yaoyorozu allowed me to try out the kitchen here, since I don't get to use the kitchen equipment at U.A. that often."
"That's generous of her," Ashido mentioned from another seat near Jirou. "Where is she right now?"
"Somewhere upstairs, making sure everyone has enough blankets and a place to sleep," Jirou answered. "It's cool you're making dinner for everyone Sato."
"It's nothing, really. To be honest, it doesn't really feel like a chore if you love cooking anyway," he said, disappearing into the dinning room to place the casserole in the center.
Jirou checked the time on her phone. 7:33.
She had been checking her phone continuously ever since they'd arrived.
"Hey Jirou, you've been checking your phone a lot, are you waiting for something?" Ashido asked curiously.
"W-what," Jirou immediately set her phone face down on the counter. "No- just. . .checking for something."
"Like a message?" Ashido squinted her eyes in a sly stare.
Ashido, unbeknownst to Jirou, had spoken to Kaminari earlier. So Ashido knew everything. She promised Kaminari alright, but she promised not to intervene. He didn't mention anything about teasing.
Asui and Uraraka entered the kitchen to grab some plates and help Sato.
"Or a text from a. . .certain someone?" Ashido leaned closer to Jirou from her own stool. She was lucky the stools were planted into the floor, otherwise she would've fallen over.
"N-no, it's nothing like that," Jirou responded with a stutter, gripping onto her own stool nervously.
"Jirou and a certain someone? Who!" Uraraka couldn't help but eavesdrop as she held paper plates in her hands. Asui reached up to grab plastic utensils, looking back at Jirou with the same intrigued expression for an answer.
"I didn't say that it was a significant other," Jirou refuted.
"Oh! A significant other! That's even better!" Uraraka nearly floated into the air from excitement.
"Jirou, you never told us you were dating someone," Asui put a finger on her bottom lip.
Ashido made a coy smile, raising her eyebrows. Jirou wondered why she was bringing back the 2 year old joke. She had thought the idea was forgotten and the teasing would stop. Guess it didn't.
"Kyoka~" Ashido pressed on.
"Kaminari and I aren't dating, Ashido," Jirou scrunched up her face in a bashful blush.
"You're w h a t?!" Uraraka stood jaw dropped.
"I thought we agreed to drop the teasing last year though," Asui tilted her head at Ashido.
"Mmmmyeah, but old habits die hard, don't they Kyoka?" Ashido said in a somewhat mischievous nature.
"What's that even supposed to mean in this situation?" Jirou countered her witty response with a question.
"Oh c'mon Jirou, it's only a joke," Ashido giggled, lightly pushing her by the arm. "We all know that you wouldn't find Kaminari, of all people, to be funny, or sweet~ or charming~ or handsome~" Ashido dragged on her words.
"I hate you," Jirou huffed, rolling her eyes.
"Awe, so you two aren't actually together?" Uraraka said disappointed.
"No!" Jirou retaliated. She could feel the red seeping into her face. "We aren't," her voice quieted as she turned around to hop off the stool. "And probably never will. ." she finished as she left toward the living room.
"I think you made her upset Ashido, ribbit," Asui looked over at her pink haired friend worried.
"Jirou? Jirou I'm sorry!" Ashido slid off her chair to go after Jirou who was headed outside. The sun was going down over the treeline as clouds far in the west coated the sky. "Hey Jirou, Jirou-"
"Ashido." Jirou said in a hushed way.
"Yeah?"
There was a pause as Jirou stepped outside onto the concrete patio, not bothering to turn around to face Ashido, who was still indoors.
"I want to be alone," she finished as she shut the door. Ashido stood inside, grabbing onto the handle to go out and follow after her, but thought it better if she respected her wishes.
Maybe the teasing went a bit too far this time. Especially since the kiss only happened yesterday.
Outside, Jirou was making her way to the garden. It was late anyway with the sun nearly down, so she figured she'd go to the garden anyways.
It wasn't Ashido that bothered her, Ashido always did that. Any other time Jirou would've taken it lightheartedly.
But that kiss.
She couldn't get it off of her mind. It was like an annoying fly that just wouldn't leave the room, except the room was her own brain. If Kaminari meant it, did it mean all these years he'd actually been interested? Her heart skipped a beat thinking about that. She found a pathway on the side of the house and followed it, seeing a little white archway up ahead. She tucked her hair behind her ears as she stepped through the grass in her sandals.
Here goes nothing.
--------
So originally, when they were all on that bus to head to Momo's cabin, Kami had texted Jirou on the bus ride since he was stuck sitting with Kirishima. They agreed to talk about what happened in private, but things kind of went to shit.
