You groaned at an obnoxious knocking sound coming from downstairs. You figured it was probably one of your new "roommates" being extra loud and pulled a pillow over your head, curling up into a tighter ball. The alarm hadn't even gone off yet.

The knocking intensified and you huffed as you sat up, completely ready to start screaming at the top of your lungs at whoever was being loud, but the time on the clock made your stomach flip. It was 8:45 and you were half an hour late for your morning shift in the cafeteria.

You searched the floor and grabbed the first sweatshirt you could find as you stumbled down the stairs, praying that you wouldn't get screamed at. The tears were already forming in your eyes as you cautiously pulled the door open.

"Morning (Y/N)," Clark said with a smile. He glanced quickly down at your bare legs and cleared his throat awkwardly. You looked down in confusion and realized that it looked like you had no pants on.

You gripped the bottom of the sweatshirt and pulled it up. "I have pants on!" Clark chuckled and leaned against the door frame. You couldn't imagine what you looked like right now, hair probably a mess and no makeup. "I really didn't mean to miss work."

"Luke sent me to check up on you," he replied.

You wrung your hands nervously and avoided his gaze. "To yell at me, you mean."

"Yeah probably but there's no point in that," he said, his playful tone and grin putting you a little more at ease. "Are you feeling okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine. I just haven't been sleeping well and I must've slept through my alarm or turned it off and fell back asleep or something, I'm not sure." Clark frowned and stepped past you into the house, closing the door behind him and making his way to the kitchen. "Um, I understand if you take away my rations or whatever you need to do but I can be ready and at the cafeteria in five minutes," you continued, trailing behind him in confusion.

He pointed at the table and began filling the coffee maker with water, pulling two mugs from the cabinet. "What are you talking about? I'm not going to do anything except make you coffee and give you the morning off." Your shocked expression made him laugh. "You need caffeine, or better yet some sleep. You look terrible."

"Gee, thanks Clark," you mumbled, him immediately realizing what he said.

"I didn't mean it like that! I meant you look really tired. But not in a bad way! Just that-" he stopped as he put a mug down in front of you. "I'm going to stop before I make it worse. Just drink your coffee."

"Thanks," you said, smiling at his flushed face. He nodded and sat down across from you. "But what are you going to tell Luke?"

He took a sip from his own mug and shrugged. "You were really dizzy, so I had to help you get back in bed and make sure you were okay. But then you will have a quick recovery to come to the movie tonight, right?"

You twiddled with your fingers to avoid his gaze. "I hadn't really planned on going. I don't really have anyone to go with," you said, but you realized how lame that sounded and wished you hadn't said anything.

"Not true! Who am I then?" Clark was beaming and you gave a shy smile back.

"Really? I figured you would have someone else to go with, like Gwen or your friends?"

"Gwen and I are done," Clark said quickly and you tried not to smile at that fact. "And you can hang out with me and my friends."

You hesitated but ultimately decided that getting out of the house would be a good idea. You told Clark you would meet him there and spent the rest of the day in jitters thinking about it. You had liked Clark for a while and knowing that him and Gwen were broken up made this seem like a date, except you would be with his entire friend group.

When you got to the church, you looked around for Clark, nervously clutching your bag. There were so many people and you were tempted to turn around and go home, but you felt a light touch on your back.

You turned to see Clark smiling down at you. "You came!"

"I told you I would," you smiled back and he led you towards where Luke, Helena, Jason, and Grizz were sitting.

"Miraculous recovery you had there (Y/N)," Jason said with a frown and your smile started to melt away before Clark thumped him on the back of the head and Jason groaned. "Ow! I was kidding!"

"Yeah well shut up," Clark said, sitting down and patting the spot beside him. You sat and tried to keep space between you and him, but he inched closer as the movie went on until finally his arm was slung around your back and your head was on his shoulder.

You looked up at him, and feeling your gaze, he looked down. "What?"

"Thanks for being so nice this morning," you whispered.

He rolled his eyes and squeezed you tighter into his side, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "It isn't hard when you have a major crush on the person," he whispered back and you didn't try to hide your surprise.

"Really?" He playfully put a finger to his lips and pointed to the movie screen, turning his attention back to the fight scene that was currently happening.

You rolled your eyes at his smirk and placed your head back on his shoulder, content with how the night was panning out.
