"I don't understand why I can't see your dress," Jason groaned from beside Luke. Both boys had been listening to you and Helena squeal in the bathroom about how amazing the other looked in their dress, and you could tell they were both getting frustrated.
You slipped out of your dress and hung it back up on the back of the door before putting your pajamas back on. "Because," you smirked, sitting down on the bed above his position on the floor.
"It's bad luck," Helena offered, also coming back into the room and plopping down on the ground beside Luke.
"That's only for weddings," Luke pointed out. "Besides, we're going to see you tonight. It doesn't have to be a big secret."
"Don't you want to be surprised?" You ruffled Jason's hair playfully and he pouted. "Now leave so we can actually start getting ready. Gwen will be here soon."
The boys left in a huff, but you could tell they were excited. The teenagers had been through a lot so far in this new, scary world and a night of pure bliss was something to look forward to.
"Who's ready to get their hair done?" Gwen burst into the room, her hair up in curlers and a bag packed full of hair supplies in her hands. You and Helena giggled at her appearance and helped her unpack everything. "You're still doing our makeup, right (Y/N)?
"Absolutely! Don't expect anything too dramatic though," you said with a smile. Since you were all alone to prepare for prom, you had to get creative and use each other for things like dress hemming, nails, and makeup.
"You first Helena," Gwen said, positioning herself behind Helena's desk chair and beginning to brush through her raven hair. "Are we still doing a crown?" Helena nodded excitedly and Gwen set to work on braiding through her hair.
"You're going to look so pretty," you said, still laying on the bed, and Helena gave you a warm smile through the mirror. "You too Gwen. Clark won't know what to do with himself."
She shrugged and her smile fell. "I never was going to go to the prom with Clark." You and Helena sat in quiet shock, waiting for her to continue. "I was going to have Seth, the guy from Wesleyan take me."
"Clark didn't know?" Helena turned to look at her but Gwen swatted her away, afraid she would ruin her crown.
"Do you think you and Luke would have stayed together in college?"
Without missing a beat Helena nodded. "We love each other."
Gwen finished pinning the last pieces of Helena's hair in place and motioned for me to switch seats. "What about you? Do you think you and Jason would have stayed together?"
You thought about the past year with Jason and nodded. You had both changed so much as people and you didn't know what you would have done if you didn't have Jason during this weird time. "Of course we would've. I love him."
"But does he feel the same way?"
"Of course," you said with no hesitation. You knew exactly how Jason felt, and you felt confident that he was who you were supposed to spend the rest of your life with.
After she finished your hair, Gwen was quiet. You felt bad that she was feeling uneasy and tried extra hard on her makeup in an effort to make her feel a little better. She could tell and gave you a grateful smile.
You had decided to meet the boys at the venue, and you could feel yourself blushing as you walked up to Jason, his eyes locked onto you.
"You look stunning," he whispered, his smile stretched as wide as possible.
You blushed and reached up to straighten his red vest with a smile. "You don't look too bad yourself."
He grabbed your hand and led you into the room, the music already playing and people packed in as tightly as possible. You found a table that Grizz had already claimed and put your stuff down. "You look beautiful," he said, smiling.
"Awe, thanks Grizz," you whispered back. Jason jokingly glared at Grizz before pulling you away and to a table with drinks. "Alcohol?" You seemed shocked and he laughed.
"No chaperones," he said with a shrug. You opted for a water instead and turned to go back to the table, but Helena was right behind you with a huge smile on her face.
"C'mon, I have a feeling this next song is going to be a good one," she said with a wink and you spent the next half an hour dancing around with her and Gwen, laughing and feeling better than you had in the past month.
The song blended into a slow song and you felt a hand on your back, turning to find Jason. "Can I finally have a turn?" He kept his hand on your back and used his other to grab your hand.
"Since when do you know how to dance?" You were pleasantly surprised that he knew what he was doing and he shrugged.
"Maybe I looked up some videos."
Your heart warmed and you thought back to the conversation you had with Gwen earlier. If you weren't sure before that Jason was perfect, you were now. He looked so content to be dancing with you and you could see the love in his eyes.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
You realized you had zoned out and shook your head at him. "I was thinking about how much I love you."
"God, that would be so cheesy coming from anyone else but sounds so adorable coming from you," he teased. You giggled and he let his hand sneak lower down on your waist.
"Jason!" You glanced at the people around you, but they were too busy enjoying themselves to be paying any attention to how close Jason was holding you.
"No chaperones to tell us no, remember?" He winked but pulled you into his chest in a hug instead. "I'm thinking about how much I love you too."
"Cheesy," you whispered, but you could feel your smile widen at his words.
