"Don't look now," Helena said as she tried to turn you away from the figure who just entered the room, but it was too late. You had already locked eyes with Grizz and he was making his way over to you from across the church."I don't want to talk to him," you whispered, tears already starting to form. Helena grabbed your hand and started pulling you towards the door, but Grizz caught up and grabbed your other hand.
You turned to see him with a pained expression. "Can we talk? Please?" Your heart shattered at the thought of having to sit and talk to the guy that just a few weeks ago told you that he wasn't in love with you anymore.
"I don't think that's such a good idea," Helena said, narrowing her eyes and grabbing my hand from Grizz's grip. "You caused enough damage."
Grizz looked taken aback at her harsh words and you looked down at your feet to avoid his hurt expression. "(Y/N), just let me explain. Please."
"Sorry," you whispered, rushing out the door and straight into Becca. You couldn't hold back your sobs anymore as she pulled you in close.
"Woah, what happened?" Helena ushered you both away from the door before explaining everything. "I'm so sorry (Y/N)," Becca said, continuing to pat your back.
"It's fine, I need to just get over him. How are you and the baby?" You had noticed Becca's bump growing more and more every day and she gave you a small smile.
"We're good. I'm terrified though." She looked uneasy but she shook it away to smile again. "Sam has been great though."
Helena nodded and waved at where Sam was hanging behind the girls. "I never knew you guys were together," she said. Becca just shrugged at the comment and glanced at her phone.
"It was just a drunken mistake, we aren't really together." She dismissed Helena quickly and you looked shocked. "Sorry, I have to go meet Kelly to talk about some baby stuff. But if you need anything, I'm here, okay? Grizz is a good guy but you deserve someone who will treat you like the princess you are." She winked and you gave her another hug before she walked away with Sam.
"She's right, you deserve way better." You nodded at Helena but knew there was no getting better than Grizz. He was sweet and respectful and cared about others more than himself. How can you get better than that? "Movie at my house?"
"I kind of want to be alone," you said, but Helena narrowed her eyes. You smiled and linked your arm through hers. "Okay, okay. Movie night it is."
When you arrived, you curled up on her couch and let her sort through her extensive DVD collection. No WiFi meant going old school. "What are we feeling?"
"Comedy please. I can't take anymore tears today," you joked. She nodded and grabbed your favorite, popping it into the DVD player and curling up beside you.
The movie never failed to make you laugh and you had been so distracted that you barely felt your phone vibrating on your lap. Looking down, you saw Grizz's face filling the screen and your stomach dropped.
Helena noticed you had stopped laughing and followed your gaze to the phone. "Do not answer that."
"But," you tried, but she grabbed the phone from you and buried it under a throw pillow.
"No buts! You need to get over him and you won't do that by giving in to him," she said. You knew she was right so you let her keep your phone until you were ready to leave.
"Thanks for the distraction. You're the best," you said, giving Helena a quick hug.
"That's what friends are for." You headed out onto the street and turned when she started talking again. "And don't call him, okay?"
"I know, I know," you mumbled, continuing your peaceful walk home. The chime of your phone broke the peace and you glanced down to see Grizz again.
where are you?
please, I need to talk to you
you're the only one I trustDespite how upset you were with him, your heart melted at the words and you texted him to come to your house. You waited anxiously on the porch and couldn't help the pity you felt when you saw him walking towards you, tears streaming down his face.
"Grizz, what happened?" He didn't answer as you pulled him into a hug. All of his weight was leaning on you, but you didn't mind as you rubbed his back, still worried. "Talk to me."
"Sam is the father," he mumbled.
You pulled away and frowned at him as he wiped at his eyes with the balls of his hands. "Yeah, he is. Why is that a problem?"
Fresh tears sprung to Grizz's eyes and you patiently waited for him to continue. "He's gay."
"Becca said it was a mistake. Grizz, why does that have anything to do with you?"
"Because I love him," he whispered and you could only look at him in shock. "I think I'm gay. Well, I know I'm gay. And I thought he loved me too but he kept this from me and I just don't know what to think anymore."
"Oh Grizz," you whispered, not sure what else to say.
"Please don't hate me. I shouldn't be bothering you with this when I just broke up with you but I didn't want to tell anyone else," he whimpered and you pulled him in for another tight hug.
"Why would I hate you? I wish you would've told me earlier instead of giving me vague reasons for breaking up with me," you said, pushing your fingers through his hair. "I still care about you. A lot."
"I thought he loved me," he said again and your heart broke for him.
"He's probably confused and scared right now, just like you." He didn't say anything and you pulled him away. "Let's go inside okay?"
"Okay," he said, taking a deep breath. "I still care about you too."
You smiled and nodded. "I know you do."
