"What's that face for?" Jason sat down beside you on the lawn in front of the school and followed your gaze to where Clark was sitting with Gwen at the gazebo.

"Nothing," you said, shaking your head in an attempt to clear it. "Can't a girl just spy on her best friend in private?"

Jason laughed and focused his attention on you. "And may I ask why you are spying on him?"

"I feel like Gwen isn't treating him right," you said with a shrug. Jason looked shocked at your statement. "He's been acting different lately."

"Different how? I haven't noticed anything," he said, still confused.

"Well, you are a guy. You aren't very observant sometimes," you said, giggling at the pout on his face. "I just think maybe he's not telling us that he's having relationship problems, and he's trying to deal with it himself."

"Well, maybe you in all your observant wisdom should talk to him about it?" You wrinkled your nose at the thought of giving Clark relationship advice, but Jason pointed to where Clark was making his way over, Gwen nowhere to be found. "And here's your chance."

"Hey guys!" Clark was smiling as always but you could tell something wasn't quite right about him. "What are you talking about?"

"How I have nothing to do tonight and thought it might be fun to just have a girls night," you said, wiggling your eyebrows at him. He groaned at the thought of doing yet another face mask with you, but you knew he secretly loved them. "You in?"

"Yeah, Gwen said she couldn't hang out tonight so I'm free." He said it so nonchalantly that it would take someone that knew him extremely well to see that he was upset about that. "You in Jason?"

"Guard duty tonight," he said, faking a frown. "I'm so sad I'll be missing it though!"

"Shut up Jason, you don't have to act like you like hanging out with me. You can thank me for your clear complexion though, those face masks really do wonders for you." You patted his cheek and he smiled, jumping up and brushing the dirt from his pants.

You said your goodbyes to him, leaving you alone with Clark who was laying on his back with his eyes shut. You nudged him with your foot and he made a grunt to let you know he was listening.

"Are you okay? You seem off," you said, trying to gently pry information out of him. He opened his eyes and gave you one of his smiles that made you feel like you were the most important thing in the world.

"Just thinking about how excited I am for our girls night," he said, and you laughed. There would be enough time to talk later but right now you just wanted to enjoy his company.
                                   ————————
"How do you live like this?" You picked up a t-shirt and let it hang delicately between your thumb and pointer finger before tossing it away with a disgusted noise.

"It's clean in here!" You raised your eyebrows, and he shrugged sheepishly. "Clean enough. Gwen always complains about it too."

Your ears perked up at the mention of Gwen, but he didn't continue, only picked up an armful of clothes and tossed them into the hamper in his bathroom. "It just needs a good vacuum. But not tonight, tonight is about relaxing."

"Sounds great. Hey, because I'm letting you pamper me like a dog, can you give me a head massage too?" You nodded and saw his eyes light up. He laid down with his head in your lap and you slowly started to rub circles on his temples as he relaxed further into you. "You're the best at this."

"I'm sure Gwen would do it too," you said, trying to slowly lead into the topic. "Girls just have the magic touch."

He drew his eyebrows together in a frown and opened his eyes to look up at you. "I don't think Gwen would really want to. She seems like she doesn't really want to spend time with me anymore." He said it so nonchalantly, but you stopped what you were doing and gave him a concerned look. "What?"

"Why would you think she doesn't want to spend time with you?"

"She never wants to hang out, and when we do, she just seems more interested in something else. And she never wants to stay here with me," he said, his tone dropping as he continued. "I feel like she maybe doesn't love me anymore."

You ignored the tears that were pooling in his eyes and quickly wrapped your arms around his neck. "She doesn't deserve you."

He hesitated before hugging you back with a sniffle. "You don't have to lie to me. She's way out of my league anyway. I don't know what I was thinking."

You pulled him away and put your hands on either side of his face. "Stop it." He opened his mouth to continue putting himself down, but you shook your head. "Shut up and listen to me. You are such an amazing guy with a huge heart and any girl would be lucky to have you."

He shook his head and tried to get out of your grip. "You're just saying that because you're my friend."

You kept your hands on his cheek, swiping a tear away with your thumb and trying to choose your words carefully, but once you started, you couldn't stop. "Honestly Clark, I think you're perfect. You are sweet and kind and everything that I want in a guy."

You were shocked at your own words, your hands falling from his face. He took a minute to respond, watching your face carefully. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"

For the longest time you had convinced yourself that you didn't like Clark, that you were like his sister, because you didn't want to ruin what you had. But looking at him now, you knew that you loved him.

You nodded slowly and watched a small smile break across his face. He pulled you in for another hug, leaning close and whispering, "I think you are everything I want in a girl too."
