How did you tell someone the truth?

Now he knew.

...

Holding onto the truth silently for so long had caused it to harden into an immovable ball lodged deep within his heart. Until it solidified and became a part of his very being this piece of knowledge that only he held. An origin story where one shouldn't have needed to exist at all. A road map of all of his sins, lined with all of his mistakes. And it lead directly to Seokjin.

Directly to his son.

...

Silence.

Long and drawn out and thick with a nerve wracking tension that he wasn't certain he could endure.

Seokjin was kind and gentle, a calming presence that he had once likened to an angel. A perfect mixture of everything that was good about him and everything that had been good about Hoseok.

But each word had been another revelation, and maybe he had gone too far. Maybe he truly hadn't been ready.

Maybe he was never going to be ready.

...

"You're my mom." It was so calm, nothing like the storm he had been anticipating. Spoken like he'd carried the knowledge with him his entire life without ever realizing.

"Yes." It was spoken softly, breathlessly, like he had been holding it in for far too long. Like he he been waiting so incredibly, painfully long to be acknowledged.

"That -" There were so many things that he could say right now, inside of this moment. So many hurtful, vile things that could come spewing out. So much love and understanding that was waiting to be used. "- makes sense."

He didn't remember their - Yoongi's - parents. But it would make sense that he didn't. Everything about it fell so perfectly into place that it was impossible for him not to believe it. To accept it. Yoongi felt familiar in a way that he could never explain, couldn't even begin to describe. Yoongi was all he knew.

Yoongi, who loved him so much he had protected him selflessly. Sheltered him from the evil that his own grandmother wished upon him. Had stolen him away at the first opportunity. Had kept each and every single one of his promises.

"I'm so sorry, Seokjin."

"What for?"

"That I never told you."

"I think... I knew. I can't explain it. But I felt it. My heart always knew who you were."

"But I should have -"

"Maybe." There were thousands of things that each of them should have done differently. But it was too late now. All they had was this moment, and the future that it would lead to. "But would it have changed anything?"

"Seokjin -"

"Would it? Would you have treated me differently if I knew? Loved me more?"

"No." Nothing would have changed. Yoongi had always treated Seokjin as his son. From the very first moment he held him in his arms up until now, Seokjin had always been his child. "You've always been my son. Even if I was the only one who knew."

"Then it doesn't matter." There were things in this world that mattered, and there were things that did not. Seokjin had come to realize the vast importance of realizing the difference.

"I kidnapped you."

"You took back what belonged to you."

"Pretty sure they never saw it that way."
