I take a deep breath as I play with my keys in my hand. I raise my hand and knock twice. As I waited, my stomach twist and turned. I was about to turn around when the door opened. I looked up to see Eric. He gave me a surprised look before smiling. "Hi, Eric," I mumbled.
"Hey, Hope." He said as he opened the door wider. I looked behind him to see Ivy on her bed working on her homework. She looked up at me with her glasses on. She moved all of her books off of her lap and stood up. Eric moved out of my way so I could walk in. I took a step in the dorm and he turns to Ivy. "I'm going to give you two some space." She nods and he places a kiss on her cheek. He walks past me and out the door closing it behind him. I looked at the door for a minute before turning back to Ivy. She looked at me as she wraps her arms around herself.
"Was there something you forgot when you moved dorms?" She asked curiously. I looked at the ground with a gulp.
"Yes, actually."
"Well I didn't see any more of your stuff in here since then but you are welcome to look." I look up at her and shake my head.
"I forgot something but it wasn't an object. It was more of a lesson I learned." She gave me a confused look. I take a deep breath and held out a bracelet she gave me on my birthday. She looks at it with surprise. "I forgot that friends make mistakes. But instead of abandoning each other, you work it out." Her eyes go on mine.
"What?" I give her a small smile.
"Noah came by my dorm yesterday to defend you. He made quite the argument." She giggled as tears slid down her face. I pulled her into my arms as tears slid down my face.
"I'm so sorry." I nod.
"So am I." She hugged me tighter. The door opened and I pulled back to see who it was. Noah looked at us as he closed his mouth right before he was going to say something. Ivy looked at him and at me. Noah nodded and gave us a small smile.
"Thank you." He said as he looked at me. I looked down.
"Thank you, Noah," Ivy spoke. He cleared his throat.
"I'm gonna go. I just wanted to make sure you were okay." He said. I looked at Ivy who looked at me.
"I'm going to be." I gave her a small smile before glancing at Noah. He nods. He turns around without a second look back at me. I take a deep breath as ache returned and I felt like breaking down. I wasn't sure what love was but I was pretty sure it is how I feel about him. I wanted to give him everything. I was fine before I knew him now it was like I needed him to be myself. I know Trent sees it too. I was never going to be the girl I use to be. "Hope?" I look at Ivy with blurry eyes. She gave me a saddened look and pulled me into her arms again. Tears fell willingly and it was like it was happening for the first time. I thought I was doing better but it was hard.
"I love him." I cried.
"I know." She breathed. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
After a few hours of talking about everything we missed in each others lives, we were laughing and watching Magic Mike XL. We both drooled over Channing Tatum as he danced on his work table. As the scene was over we turned to each other laughing. We get our breath back and look at each other. "I needed this," I said. She nods.
"So did I." I smile at her. Her dorm room opens and we turn towards the intruder. Eric looks at us with a smile as he strolls over to the bed we were certainly on. Trent walks in a moment later watching us.
"Hey," Eric said. Ivy smiles up at him.
"Hey," I roll my eyes at them and stand up.
"Okay, that's my cue to leave." Eric looks at me.
"You don't have to." He said. I shake my head with a smile.
"No, it's fine. You can have your alone time." Ivy stood up as I walked up to Trent who wrapped his arm over my shoulder. I looked up at him to see him smiling.
"How are you doing?" He asked. I take a deep breath.
"I'm hurting but I'm going to be okay." He nods.
"That's a better answer than you've been giving me." I scuff as I lay my head on his chest. Ivy walks up to us. She looks up at Trent and smiles.
"Thank you for keeping an eye on her." He nods.
"It was my pleasure." She smiles and looks back at me.
"Come back tomorrow okay?" I nodded.
"I promise." She nods.
