Chapter 40

I stare at the contact number Caius gave me. I took deep breaths before I had the urge to dial it. I put the phone over my ear and I can't stop the anxiety rising in my system as I listen to the ringing sound. I caught my breath when the ringing stopped and he said 'hello'.

"Hi, Daddy." I said breathlessly.

"Finn?" He asked in a shocked tone.

"Yes, it's me."

I saw Caius entered my room and he silently walked towards me then sat beside me. He snaked his arm over my shoulder so I leaned on him.

"How are you? I heard you are sick." Tanong ko kaya napabuntong-hininga si Daddy.

"I'm fine. It's just a heart problem but I can manage. Karma ko na siguro ito." He laughed off the last part kaya kumunot ang noo ko at nag-umpisa nang mamuo ang mga luha ko.

"Tsk. Don't say that. Pupuntahan kita dyan para masundo. I want you to live here para maalagaan kita." Sabi ko sabay punas sa tumutulo kong luha.

"Okay na ako dito, anak. Ayaw kong makitang nasasaktan ka kapag nandyan ako. Maaalala mo lang lahat ng sakit na ibinigay ko sa iyo."

"No. Mas nasasaktan ako dahil alam kong ikaw lang mag-isa dyan. Let's just forget the past, Daddy. I forgave you already."

I looked at Caius when he started caressing my upper arm. He shook his head before he wiped my tears using his other hand kaya bahagya akong napa-ngiti dahil sa ginawa nya.

"Got it, Daddy? Pinatawad na kita kaya gusto kong magpalakas ka pa lalo para makapag-bonding tayo." Sabi ko.

"I love you, anak." I heard him say with a shaky voice kaya naiyak lang ako lalo dahil alam kong umiiyak sya ngayon.

"I love you, Daddy." I said before ending the call.

"Psh. You're such a crybaby."

Tiningala ko si Caius dahil sa sinabi nya. Tinaasan ko sya ng kilay pero ginaya nya lang ako habang pinupunasan ang mga luha ko.

"Pero okay lang kasi nandito naman ako para punasan ang mga luha mo." He added before giving me a sweet smile.

Literal na natameme ako sa sinabi nya dahil sa kilig. I bit my lip to stop my smile but I just can't stop the joy spreading in my body.

"May sasabihin pala ako." I said which made him serious.

"Pupuntahan ko si Athena ngayon. Gusto ko syang maka-usap." Dagdag ko kaya mabilis kumunot ang noo nya tapos ay agad syang umiling.

Umupo naman ako ng maayos at nag-indian sit paharap sa kanya. I quickly glanced at his sprawled body on the bed and I gulped because he looks hot in that position.

Napakurap ako sa naisip at ibinalik ang tingin sa kanya. Lukot pa rin ang mukha nya kaya sinubukan kong magpuppy eyes pero hindi sya tinablan.

"Marami namang mga pulis doon kaya hindi nya ako masasaktan. I need to talk to her so I can finally move on."

I thought that after Caius showed me the lot of our future home. Gusto ko kapag nag-umpisa na kami ng sarili naming pamilya ay talagang naka-move on na ako sa mga problema ng past ko. I want to face my future with Caius with positivity that's why I chose to reconcile with Daddy and talk to Athena so that I can move on from my past and Athena is my final step.

"Please, Caius." I pleaded as I held his hand.

He looked at our hands before he sighed. He pulled me that made me land on his chest then he quickly locked his arms around my waist kaya wala na akong kawala. Naduling ako dahil sa malapit na distansya ng mga mukha namin at natetempt akong tikman ang mga labi nya.
