Five and Lena were dragging themselves slowly up the stairs of the acadamy, him keeping a secure grip on her side and her hand that had been thrown over his shoulder was clutching a fistful of his blazer. Every step was agony, but she kept her mouth pressed firmly shut despite how many times she wanted to cry out in pain.
"Five... Lena?" Allison asked, concern on her face. "What the hell happened to you?"
The question was left in the air as she lifted her eyes to meet hers, who's widened drastically at the sight of all the blood. She felt despair clutch her in a chokehold.
Luther caught on, and seemed to not know what to do. "Are you okay? Can we help?" He reached a hand out, and Five quickly grabbed his wrist, stopping him.
His voice was strained and shaky. "There"s nothing you can do," he whispers. "There's nothing any of you can do."
He turned, walking towards his room with Lena attached to his hip.

Lena expected to wake up with her husband lying next to her but she guessed that would have been too much to ask. Instead, she awoke in pain, brain foggy with painkillers running through her system, and slightly confused as to why she was hearing arguing instead of blissful silence after such a rough night.
Her hands went to her side where she tenderly felt through her clothes, fingertips running over thick bandages plastered over her hip. She felt a thickness over her thigh and begrudgingly opened her eyes, glad at least that Five had left the curtains closed so she wasn't bombarded ny sunlight.
"Are you crazy?"
"Any one of you go near that room and I'll slit your throat," she recognised Five's voice immediately, calm and dangerous, and she dragged herself up and out of his bed as fast as she could, pausing to take a deep breath. "Do not go near her."
Lena's eyebrows pinched as she held onto the bedframe stiffly.
"She burnt Grace when she was just trying to help-"
She realised quickly they were talking about her. She had heard Diego, Luther and Allison in the background, Five's viciously low tone something her ears picked up on instantly. She didn't remember Grace even patching her up, but it must have happened because her wounds felt better than they had last night, and it certainly wasn't Five who had covered them so perfectly.
Had she really burnt Grace? Guilt swarmed her.
"-that was an accident!" He snapped from out in the hall. "Now back off."
She hadn't heard her husband quite so worked up in a while, much less with his family.
"What's going on, Five? You show up out of the blue with this random girl with powers like us. You won't tell us where you're disappearing off to, you won't tell us why you both show up in the middle of the night covered in blood-"
