They all trudged to a nearby park, finding empty benches and tables to sit on and rest. The Umbrella Academy sat defeated and exhausted, counting their injuries and the fact they'd been beaten to shit.

Five helped Lena sit down on one of the tables benches before slumping down next to her, hand tracing the nasty gash across the side of his forehead.

Lena stretched her bad leg out, the warmth and wetness of all the blood making her stomach churn more. She shakily tightened the strips of fabric around her wound, biting her tongue at the shockwaves of pain sent across her body as she did.

Her hands came away stark with blood and she just rested them in her lap, staring at them blankly.

Every movement felt excruciatingly slow and even keeping her eyes from dropping was becoming a task.

Klaus laid atop the table beside them, Diego next to him on the bench. Luther sat opposite those two with Allison who perched on the arm.

She could feel eyes on the side of her face, persistent and concerned, but Lena was too tired to even look Five's way.

"That didn't go well." Diego remarked.

"No," Five humoured, crossing his arms. "Not our best work."

Lena shot him a withering look and he pressed his lips into a thin line.

As they all humoured how they all got bested by people who actually stood a chance against them, Vanya was the last to sit down.

"Apparently Ben's alive."

"Yeah," Allison muttered. "And he's a complete dickhead."

"They're all dickheads." Diego scoffed.

Luther agreed, moving over so Vanya could sit by them. "Dickheads who can fight."

"Okay, next person to say dickhead is getting a punch to the throat." Five warned, leaning back against the table to glared at them all.

"Dickhead." They all chimed, and just to spite him, Lena leant in to his ear to murmur, "cara de verga."

He shot her a dry look. "Don't encourage them."

"Hey," Diego sat forwards, eyes on Klaus. "Did dad tell you why he was calling them kids?"

Lena sighed tiredly. "Is it not obvious?"

"He sure did!" Klaus laughed, tapping a rhythm on his thighs. "You ready? Dad was so repulsed by us back in texas that he adopted an entirely different group of children just so that he didn't have to raise us!"

"That's just peak dad."

"Isn't it?"

"I told you we shouldn't have asked him for help in sixty three-"

Five cut in. "-I think you're all missing the big picture here."

He glanced at the girl to his left who arched an eyebrow, and corrected himself.
