I made it back to my apartment in time, before the rain started to pour. Ironically, I moved to LA to get away from the snow and rain.
I set my bag down and muted my phone from Lindsay's constant calls. My head was hurting from the alcohol and the recent news. The one piece of information that ticked me off, however, was that they were about to board a plane back here. If Ashton had gone on the flight, his appendix would've burst and who knows what could have happened. It also meant the tour was over, and I would see them soon.
My phone began to ring, and luckily it wasn't Lindsay. I eagerly picked up, wanting news about Ashton.
"Hello? Calum? Can you hear me?" I said to him. Calum had called me about 20 times that night.
"Yeah, I can hear you this time, thank God. The hospital's phone isn't that great." he chuckled.
"It's fine." I sighed, and Calum went silent. "How's Ashton?" I asked.
"He's still in surgery, but the doctor's aren't too worried. They said we brought him here just in time."
"That's good." I sighed once more. "Is everyone else okay?"
"We're good, I guess. Luke was kind of tramuatized for a while."
"Oh." Oh how I wished I could be there right now, I thought. "Did Michael and Luke hug at one point? If they do, send me the picture." I laughed, trying to get rid of the obvious tension through the phone.
"Michael wanted to hug him, but he's too embarrassed." Calum laughed, too. "They miss you. Well, I miss you the most."
"I bet you guys do." I smiled ear to ear. "Wait, you said Luke-"
"Yeah, he was pretty upset- I mean we were all shocked, but he was the most. I think it has something to do with you..." he trailed off. What was I supposed to say? That I miss him and I love him, too? I did, but I couldn't give in too easily. He broke my heart and lied to me for so long, all for nothing. He knew he was going to lose me, but he still lied.
"If it makes him feel better, I want to talk to him. When you guys get back, of course." I said.
"Okay, yeah that's fine."
"Yeah..."
"You know, I'll call back when we have more news about Ashton. But the widowed secretary is eyeing me now, so I should probably go."
"Alright, I'll talk to you soon?"
"Soon." The other end made a 'click' sound, which indicated he hung up. I set my phone down, lay my head on the couch pillow, and rested my eyes.
A few hours later, I opened my eyes. Almost forgetting about Calum, I hurriedly unlocked my phone and checked my messages. There was nothing. Why hadn't Calum called me back? Suddenly, I felt my stomach drop at the horrid reason. My next thought was Twitter. I scrolled past unnecessary tweets, until I found Ashton's profile. I let out a sigh of relieve at what he said.
"@Ashton5SOS: Sup guys! I'm sorry too anyone I've let down. I promise we will make it up to ya! I'll be better soon, thanks for all the love xx"
A smile broke out onto my face, knowing Ashton was alright.

The band had to stay in London an extra week for Ashton to feel well enough to board a plane. Part of me was excited to see them after what felt like 2 years, but the other part was nervous. They were landing at 8 pm tonight at LAX airport. I decided to stay in and wait for them to call me, to see if they wanted to talk to me after everything.
I sat in my living room, just about to give up on them calling, my phone rang. I picked up Calum's call, with a smile on my face.
"Hey, Calum."
"Uh," he cleared his throat. "Yeah, hi, Ava." Calum said, but his voice sounded different.
"Calum? Are you okay?" I asked.
"Fine," he coughed again. "Fine."
"Who is this?"
"Uh, it's me. Luke." he said awkwardly. It was weird how I couldn't recognize his voice.
"So, I guess you were expecting Calum, huh?" Luke sighed.
"No, i-it's just, well, this is Calum's phone." I stuttered. The tension through the phone line was tangible, and it made the both of us silent.
"Yeah, Calum told me to call you, since he was busy. I guess he chose the wrong person..." he sighed, mumbling the last part.
"It's fine. More importantly, how's Ashton doing?"
"He's better. We fed him food, non dairy, he complained, we forced him to eat it, end of story." I began to chuckle, but the small chuckle turned into a fit of laughter. I missed him so much.
