Saturday arrived and I had not talked to Kylie ever since the day she told me that she got back together with that jerk face Tim. He was a jerk.
I thought about what Janine had said for those few days that I had not talked to Kylie. So Saturday morning, I decided to shower and go over to Kylie's to talk to her. She called me and texted a few times during the week but I ignored her, I just needed to think. As much as I agreed with Janine, I wanted to think about it. And whenever she came over to my house, I told my mom to tell her that I was asleep and thank goodness she did that. Clearly Kylie could see that I was avoiding her.
I rang the doorbell when I got to her house and her mother opened the door.
"Hello Mrs Cargo." I said as I stepped into the house.
"Hi Elle. How are you?"
"I'm good thanks and yourself?"
"I'm good. Kylie is at the mall with Tim." She said and I was quite disappointed.
"I'll come back later Mrs Cargo. Please tell her that I was here?"
"I will." She said.
I exited and decided to go over to Henry's house. He was the one who opened the door.
"Hey punk, how are you doing?" I said as soon as I got in.
"I am well. You?"
"Good." I said and went to the living room where I switched on the T.V and tried to decide on what to watch.
"You look sad, what's up?"
I looked up and said, "the ceiling, do you need glasses?"
"Ugh! What's up with you?"
"Well, Kylie and I kind of fought. Remember the day that you were absent from school?"
"So that's why you haven't been eating with us?"
"Yep."
"Why did you guys fight?" He asked.
"She got back together with Tim after what he did, can you believe her?"
"I told you, this love thing is stupid. She got back together with someone that brought so much pain unto her. That does not make any sense." I had to agree with him on that one, although I did not think that love was stupid.
"I told you, with relationships, somebody ends up getting hurt." He continued.
"Same as whatever you're doing. What happens when the girl you smashed catches feelings for you?" I asked him. I had been wondering that for a while then.
"That's not my problem now is it? I was honest with them from the start and told them what I wanted from them. They should just get their feelings in order because I made it clear that I do not date. I don't lie to them, I do not play them either, so I'm not wrong in any way. They'd just be confused. With relationships, these guys lie so much." He laughed, that's not even funny.
"They lie to you guys so much and you guys fall for it. They make y'all believe that they like you which is like not always the truth. So I'd rather not. Cheating is never a mistake Navia, ever. It might not mean anything to the guy, it might just simply be a kiss or sex that meant absolutely nothing to him but he knew what he was doing, he was fully conscious.
"Sure maybe Tim cheated but still genuinely likes Kylie but chances of him doing it again are quite high and chances of Tim comparing Kylie and Aubrey are also high. What happens if after comparing, he realizes that Aubrey kisses better than Kylie? Maybe he got back together with Kylie because after comparing, he still chose Kylie or Kylie just made it easy for him, and made herself easily accessible. But who am I to have an input, I'm just a teenager having fun."
Henry was crazy, he kept laughing in between his speech and I also could not keep a serious face. He actually portrayed what he was doing as a good thing. He justified it and I swear it looked like it was a good thing. It was better than being lied to but it got dangerous when one of them would catch feelings, and it was most likely to be the girl because I did not even think Henry had a heart for romantic feelings.
"Who hurt you and caused you to stop believing in love?"
"Nobody, this was a choice I made on my own. Why do you think somebody hurt me?" I did not believe him.
"People normally put up a big barrier around their heart, avoiding to fall in love because when they once did, it shattered everything in them. So because they are scared of going through that again, they'd rather build up this wall. It's the fear of falling in love, it's called... philophobia."
"I'm not philophobic or whatever, and I don't have a wall up. I never got my heart broken. I cannot fear something that I don't believe in Navia, now get that crap out of your head."
"Sure." I said sarcastically.
"Okay okay, I was heartbroken." He looked down.
"Tell me more." I was so intrigued, I sat next to him and tried to comfort him.
"My dog..." he sniffled, "it died." He acted like he was crying and I hit him with a pillow.
"What? I was saying what you wanted to hear."
"Go to hell Henry." I said and he laughed.
We took a walk, then I got a text from Kylie telling me that she was home. I asked Henry to drop me off at her house.
"You're going to fix things?"
"Yes, I love Kylie and I cannot bare to lose her. Especially because of a boy, let alone a jerk face." I scoffed.
I got off when we got to Kylie's house. I rang the doorbell and she was the one that opened, as if she was expecting me.
We looked at each other for a while then embraced each other in a warm hug. I held her so tight, just to pass on the message that I never want to lose her as my best friend, that I never want to let go. She meant so much to me.
"I'm so sorry friend."
"It's okay, it's okay." She said.
"Okay, let's go upstairs before you make me cry." I said and she laughed.
We went upstairs and she gave me a bag of salt and vinegar chips. She also got me a white bathrobe that had Elle written at the back.
"Aw! Thank you. What's occasion? Did I forget my own birthday? Did I forget our anniversary?"
"No silly, this is to say sorry for disappointing you." She let out a huge sigh and sat down on her bed. "I really want you to support my relationship even if you don't fully agree with it or like Tim and I understand why but you have to also understand that I love Tim with everything I have. I really think he deserves a second chance. Sure he screwed me over but also, I know Tim, when he says he's sorry, he really means it and I thought we should give it a go one more time. Tim and I have come a long way to give up now."
"I'm also sorry for freaking out like that. Honestly, I overreacted and I shouldn't have. I am supposed to be a good friend and support your decisions, not act like a bitch about it. I hope you forgive me for that. Uh... I guess I don't really understand where you're coming from since I haven't loved anyone before so... I'll support you through it. I'm accepting it just this one time. If he breaks your heart, I'll murder him, you must tell him that." I laughed.
"I sure will."
"I love you Kylie and losing you is the last thing that I want."
"I love you too Elle." We hugged again and this time, I could not stop the tears from flowing. Kylie was also crying, it sure was emotional in that room.
A few hours later of chatting and her telling me how they got back together, she dropped me off at my house. I was full from eating all the junk from Kylie's house so I just got in, showered then slept.
