A week later, my dad came back home and him and mom fixed things. That made me so happy.
My mom, dad and I decided to go to an amusement park to celebrate. Courtesy of my dad of course. When my dad came back, he apologized for traumatizing me. We talked about the whole thing and he told me that he still loved my mom so I should not worry about that. And well because that was sorted, we went out as a family.
We went on all the rides and had ribs and fries afterwards. I literally ate those like a pig. My mom was the only one being a lady there. I really did not care who was watching at that point, even if they took a video, I did not care, those ribs were sooo good and I would be wasting time if I tried being a lady while eating them. My stomach was longing for them and I could not deny them that privilege.
After eating, we went back home where we had family game night.
"Daddy, that's cheating." I whined as he beat me at chess for the fifth time. He was supposed to let me win, I'm the kid. He did not even feel sorry for me, he enjoyed beating me.
He then played with my mom. It was really tense. I watched them as they moved their pieces turn by turn. They were focusing really hard and I was trying hard not to laugh at how straight and focused their faces were. They looked ridiculous.
My dad moved his queen piece, taking out my mom's knight and I saw my mom cuss under her breath. My dad had taken most of the pieces and I felt like my mom was going to lose to my dad. But I did not want my dad to win, I wanted to laugh at him after my mom beats him. That would satisfy me so bad.
"Check mate." My mom exclaimed after a few minutes.
"Yes!" I exclaimed.
"Oh, you two are ganging up against me?"
"No, no daddy, we are not." I said and when he was not looking, my mom and I silently high-fived each other.
"Pfft! That was luck though." My dad said with bitterness from losing to my mom.
"Come on Rick, are you seriously not going to admit to being defeated by me?"
"I do but we both know that it was luck, and luck doesn't come twice."
"Are you trying to take me on again?"
"Maybe." Dad said.
"Hm! It's on. Let's see what you got old man."
"Old man? I'm only forty nine."
"Sheesh! That old?" My mom teased and my dad faked a frown. That was so adorable to watch. Love is beautiful and I did not know that older people could be that cute as well. I enjoyed watching them and I could watch them the whole day.
I was so glad that things went back to normal. Now those are the parents that I remember, so happy in love.
They played another round while I ate my caramel popcorn. The game went on for a while and my mom won again. She celebrated with a slight scream. She looked so excited and my dad attempted to roll his eyes. He was totally bitter.
"Let's play Monopoly." I said.
"Good one, I am so going to win this one." My dad said and he packed the chess pieces and closed the box. He then opened the box of Monopoly and set it up as mom brought other snacks from the kitchen.
My dad looked so passionate. He sure loved gaming hey. We were such a small family but game night was really fun, I wondered how it would be in Kylie's family. I was sure that it was way more interesting since it was a lot of them. It was Mr and Mrs Cargo, Kylie, Kimberly, Jack and Max, damn, I think I want a big family when I grow up. I think.
"I'll be the car."
"No daddy, you know I'm always the car. Why do I always have to go through this with you?"
"You don't even have a car," he challenged.
"Daddy, don't do this. Okay let's do this, the one who wins this game, takes the car forever."
"Ugh! That should be easy, deal." He said and we shook on it.
I heard a knock at the door and I stood up to go open for the person interrupting our game night. I opened the door and Mr Landforth and his daughter Charity came into view.
"Hi guys." I greeted and they greeted back. Charity was in eighth grade and apparently would be going to our school the following year when she was a freshman. She had a petite body and her hair was always in a high puff, sometimes she did two which looked even cuter because she had big beautiful eyes. I loved her hair so much, I used to play with it when I was younger. She used to come here a lot with her dad, that was until she grew up and found friends.
Charity's mom passed on when Charity was three, she died from a terrible car accident. She collided with a truck and her car burnt to ashes, it was so sad that there was no body to bury. Charity was too young to understand, for years it had been her and her father. I wonder why Mr Landforth never remarried, it's been years for goodness' sake.
"How are you Elle?"
"I'm good sir and how are you?"
"I'm good." He responded. Charity was just quiet. I had not seen her in a very long time. She had even become taller.
My mother welcomed the two and gave them a glass of passion fruit juice and they sat down. They also joined in on the game.
"So, where are you guys from?" Mom asked Mr Landforth.
"I chaperoned Cherrie to her first date with her very first boyfriend." And Cherrie was what she preferred to be called, her mom came up with the nickname and honestly I love it. I thought dads did not like it when their daughters date, how was Mr Landforth okay with Cherrie dating at fourteen? He was one cool dad right? But he still snitched on me to my mom the other day.
"Oh really, how was it Cherrie?" My mom asked her. Charity blushed as she thought about her date.
"It was great, dad was on his best behaviour. His broad muscles intimidated Kevin but it went well." She said in between giggles. Hm! She looked like she really liked this guy huh.
Wait for it...
"I'm so happy for you. Elle here does not want a boyfriend. See Elle, even a fourteen year old has a boyfriend." I knew it.
"Mom, can you just stop. I'm not interested okay."
"Yes my girl, good! You should not date." My dad said.
Although I did want to date but I did not like anybody at the moment. I was really against dating somebody that I did not like, so until I find that person, or that person finds me, I will remain single and my mom should just make peace with that already.
"The kid will die alone."
"And I will smile knowing that no boy was messing around with my daughter."
I knew that by messing around he meant, all the sexual stuff that couples my age do.
"Anyway, I'll take the ship." My mother said.
We started playing the game. If only that was real cash. I was really broke and the fact that I was making money on a game and not in real life really sucked.
Mr Landforth and I had the most cash and dad was on his last bucks. If he had to land on one of my properties for one more time, he would lose. Boo! Hoo! I guess I got to keep the car.
The game was really fun, Mr Landforth had the most cash but at least I beat my dad and he would let me have the car.
Charity and Mr Landforth left an hour later and because I was so exhausted from the long day that I had, I went straight to bed. I could really use a massage.
