2 Broke Girls One Shot

You knew there were people behind the fish adorned stained glass of the small, window only cupcake shop, every time you knocked you could hear them shuffling around and asking 'Don't they know we're closed?'. With every knock they shuffled more intently and asked the same question more and more aggressively until finally the wooden protective door opened and then the stained glass slid open. From the back of the shop, her colleague shouted out. "Max, remember, be nice."

"What?! Can you not see that we are obviously closed?!" The irate cupcake saleswoman leant with her hands firmly pressed against the counter and she seemed quite ready to forget her friends encouraging words. "Come on, we closed early for a reason so do you want a cupcake or not?"

"Oh, sorry. My girlfriend always comes here and it's our anniversary, I wanted to come and get her whatever cupcake you recommend." She rushed out to the back of the shop and forced a single red velvet cupcake into a small, white glossy box.

"You need a cupcake; I need to get going. Can we please hurry this up, I don't need to hear the part of your autobiography where you buy a damn cupcake." She stood impatiently, tapping the ground with her heel and holding her open hand on the counter.

"How much?"

"Five dollars fifty... I thought your girlfriend came here all the time. If it's your anniversary shouldn't you know how much a cupcake from her favourite shop is? Hey Caroline, get a load of this doofus." Caroline strolled forward with a wash cloth hung over her shoulder and a bubbly cake tray in her hand.

"Oh Max, don't be mean. I think its very romantic that he would come all the way just to get a cupcake for his girlfriend. What's her name?"

"Well her name's Max, actually." Caroline's mouth opened, enthralled by the coincidence.

"Oh my god, how crazy! How long have you guys been dating?" Max rolled her eyes and quickly walked away, Caroline was clearly much more of a romantic than she was.

"Well the thing is, I'm actually from the future, one year in the future to be exact. Hey, Max!" You shouted to the back. "Want to go for a drink some time?"

Max turned from the sink with disgust in her eyes.

"You don't buy a girl something from where she works to ask her out!" She slammed the wooden doors shut, leaving you with just a cupcake and shame, they peered open again, giving you at least some hope. "And that was the CHEESIEST pick up line I have EVER heard! You should be ASHAMED of yourself."
