Bones One Shot

Initially you had been concerned about getting into a relationship with Lance, he worked for the FBI, he worked on relatively dangerous cases and he was a shrink.

The shrink factor alone wasn't reassuring, yes, he was more likely to be able to tell your moods however he was also more likely to figure out things that maybe you didn't want him to.

As time went on the two of you did go from strength to strength and whilst his tendency to shrink you could get on your nerves, it hadn't proven to be frustrating.

That was until you'd started to try to start a family – it wasn't going how you wanted it to, and it was getting it to you, but you didn't want to let Lance down.

He had started to realise that your feelings weren't what you were telling him and that concerned him, he always knew you to be honest with him but when he realised that you weren't seeming yourself then naturally, he was worried for you.

When he came home from work that evening, he found you curled up on the sofa, a blanket cocooning you as you slept.

He couldn't help but smile at how peaceful you looked but he then frowned when he noticed the tear tracks on your cheeks.

"Darling?" he questioned softly as he crouched down in front of you, gently shaking you awake.

You hear Lance's voice and opened your eyes to see him looking at you in concern. "You're home," you stated, not realising how long you had been asleep for.

"What's wrong?"

You shook your head, sitting up and rubbing at your face. "Nothing Lance, I'm okay."

He sighed as he moved to sit next to you, pulling you into his side. "Why have you been crying?"

You were about to deny it but you just couldn't blatantly lie to his face and so you sighed, crumbling into his embrace.

He manoeuvred the two of you so that you were cradled against his chest, him stroking your hair as you gathered your thoughts.

"It's not going how I wanted it to," you eventually admitted.

"What isn't?" he asked gently, still stroking your hair.

Sighing again you tried to burrow further into Lance's chest. "Us, a family, it's not happened yet."

"These things take time darling, you know that" he reminded you.

"Almost half a year of time?"

You felt Lance kiss the top of your head. "Everyone is different, it isn't always possible to put a timeframe on things."

"But I want us to have a family," you all but whispered. "I want us to have a baby."

"And we will," he promised you as he kissed the top of your head again. "It'll happen for us."
