The Inbetweeners One Shot

With the promise of a ham sandwich, a bag of hula hoops and a few games of Wii tennis, Will managed to lead Neil away from the park bench, giving you and Simon some time to enjoy your first anniversary. Fortunately, Jay had already made up some ridiculously bullshit reason for not coming, of course he would rather hang out with Mike Tyson for the afternoon than bother you.

"I can't believe it's been a year already, it seems like we only started going out with each other like last week or something." Simon sunk into your shoulder as you gazed over the small, rolling echoes of fish darting to the surface for scraps of bread and fish food. "I'm just glad everybody else has pissed off for a change."

"I don't have any problems with your friends, but they can tend to be a bit on the annoying side, especially when we are trying to have e little time to our self." Simon agreed and tossed a discarded sandwich crust from your picnic onto the surface of the water and smiled as a raft of vibrantly coloured ducks landed on the water to enjoy it.

"They can be a bit... yeah..." There wasn't quite a word to describe the collective of Jay, Neil and Will, a simple nod and a concerned expression was mostly sufficient. "Speaking of them, we all asked you to come to the dance with us. What made you pick me?"

"I'm pretty sure Jay just asked me to piss the rest of you off, I don't know if Neil even knew what was going on and Will is... Will."

"So you only said yes because I was the best of the worst choices?"

"Pretty much, I guess." He looked up at you from his nested position on your chest with stooped sad eyes. "But I'm still here a year later aren't I? Maybe nobody else asked me to go with them, but once I had spent some time with you I realised that I should probably give you a chance. I found it sweet how nervous you were when you asked me, I saw how much your eyes lit up when you saw me in my clothes for the night, and when I wasn't in them. You walked me home even though it was fifteen minutes in the opposite directed and even though I was a little bit drunk you put up with my bullshit. Mostly though I like that you make me laugh so much that my cheeks hurt, and how there's never a dull moment whenever we're together."
