"This cursed land is far too hot." Bjorn wiped the salty sweat from his top lip and tried what he could to hide his pale skin from the suns harsh bite. "How do they grow anything... how do they survive in these conditions. I am grateful we are not here for long; I could not imagine having to live here. I would be ash within weeks."

"I am sure these people would say the same thing about the frigid climate of our homeland Bjorn, they would not last days in a snowstorm." Your thoughts turned to home, of the farmland and family you had left to join Bjorn on his raid to the Mediterranean, the rewards he promised were fruitful and lasting, just as he had promised, but you had not expected to miss your family so much. "How do you think life is back in Kattegat?" You asked Bjorn as he patted the gifted camel up and down, still perplexed by its unorthodox shape and almost unsightly hump.

"I am sure life is as it always has been."

"As it always has been?" You jested. "There has never been an always has been in Kattegat. Every month something else is happening, I would not be surprised if we go back and Ragnarök itself had unfurled around your Kattegat. The gods have very watchful eyes over that place, I am just not sure whether their intentions are good or bad."

"You are very dramatic y/n. We have little more happen to us than any other Viking town." You and Bjorn hoisted yourselves on to the camels, sat your feet in the stirrups and slowly began to ride off into the desert. "We fight our own wars, usurp and get usurped... it happens all over the country. You are just too closed minded to look at the bigger picture."

"I am not closed minded Bjorn Ironside, I am simply realistic. Name one person who has sat at the head of Kattegat and has had an easy rule? Earl Haraldson... Queen Aslaug... your father? I swear that throne is cursed."

"The throne is not cursed, do not be such a superstitious fool y/n. You can not say my father did not have a long lasting and far reaching rule? Earl Haraldson was not exactly unfortunate either, they just both seemed to meet unsightly ends."

"We will see the longevity of your rule, see how superstitious you are then."
