Star Trek One Shot

When you'd initially started going out with Jim, you hadn't quite considered how it would affect your work life.

The two of you had already worked together on the Enterprise for a year prior to you finally agreeing to go on a date with him, and it was no secret to the crew that the two of you had something there.

A few months down the line the two of you were happy in your relationship but there had been some bumps along the way.

Jim had a habit of dismissing anyone's ideas when he was having a problem, he didn't quite do the whole listening to other people's opinions.

When you'd been heading to the bridge earlier on in the day you were told that Jim was having trouble with one of the planets you were all planning to document.

He knew that there was some risky air space surrounding the planet but the crew's suggestions as to how he could navigate it weren't being met with any great enthusiasm.

And so, as you walked onto the bridge you were aware that Jim probably wasn't going to be in a great mood.

"Permission to enter the bridge?" you questioned as you stepped out of the lift.

"Granted," came Jim's voice from his captain's chair but he didn't turn to greet you like normal.

Sighing inwardly, you made your way to stand next to his chair. "Not having the best day love?"

He shook his head but didn't make any other attempt of talking to you, and you did note the fact that there was a bit of a frosty atmosphere between Jim and Spock.

"I'm guessing you're not open to suggestions," you stated, trying to joke with him a little bit.

Your boyfriend groaned, massaging his temple with his hand. "Not when they are from people who don't have a clue what we're doing here."

Even though you knew he was frustrated his words still stung a little bit.

You cleared your throat and took a step back from his chair which didn't go unnoticed by the other crew members on the bridge.

"Understood Captain," you stated in a stony tone. "I'll refrain from bothering you in the future."

And with that you left the bridge without turning back, even when you got into the lift, but Jim knew he'd messed up by taking his frustration out on you.

Logically you knew you shouldn't be upset at Jim, but the implications of his words were not pleasant so you all but stormed back to your room.

It felt strange to be in your room as you spent the majority of your time in the captain quarters with Jim and you realised, as you looked around your room, that the majority of your stuff had been moved over there as well.

You chastised yourself as you curled up on your bed for taking Jim's words to heart, but you really couldn't help it.

You weren't sure how much time had passed since you'd spoken to Jim on the bridge or how much time you had spent curled up on your bed, but you were shocked out of your thoughts by a loud bang from your door.

It took you a moment to realise that the noise had in fact been Jim's fist against your door.

You then heard his groan of frustration from behind your door which made you roll your eyes because he had clearly forgotten the fact that he knew your passcode.

"Caveman," you muttered to yourself.

After a few more minutes, with many more groans of frustrations and bangs against both the door, wall and keypad, the door to your room slid open.

"Ah, breaking and entering, how romantic of you."

Jim sighed as he came to sit at the end of your bed. "I'm sorry baby."

You raised an eyebrow, waiting for the rest of his apology.

"I was frustrated, Spock wasn't agreeing with anything I thought of and neither was Sulu," he explained. "But I know I shouldn't have taken it out on you baby, I just got so sick of people suggesting things that I had already thought of."

When you looked at Jim you could tell that he was sincere but that didn't mean you were going to let him off the hook that easily.

And when you didn't say anything else Jim moved closer to you and knelt down in front of your side of the bed. "Please baby, just don't be mad at me."

"Mad at you?" you questioned with a roll of your eyes. "I'm not mad at you you dolt, I just thought you were rude, and it irritated me."

Surprise crossed your boyfriend's face. "So, you made me break your keypad just because you were 'irritated' at me?"

"Yes," you stated as if it should've been obvious. "Since when am I a doormat that won't tell you how I feel."

Jim then realised that for the second time that day he had said the wrong thing.

You watched as the cogs turned in your boyfriend's head, him trying to figure out how to not dig himself further into the hole that he had already created.

"Baby, please can we go to our room and I'll grovel and apologise and do whatever you want me to do."

You laughed and considered that you'd probably given him a hard-enough time. "There's only one thing I want you to do."

He nodded at your words, moving his hands from his lap to rest on your thigh.

"Help me move the rest of my stuff to your room?"
