The Inbetweeners One Shot

The last few fries were shovelled into Neil's mouth and with a final hand resting on his stomach the meal part of yours and Neil's date was finished. Neil's suggestion for your date was certainly more... high society than you had originally anticipated but honestly you had no reason to complain.

"I'm stuffed." Neil leant backwards in his chair with his mouth agape and his head slanting over the seat. "Honestly, I couldn't eat anything else."

"Yeah, that was awesome." You gazed with hazy eyes down at your half-eaten plate and wondered why you even considered ordering such a large meal. "We'll definitely be coming back here again?"

"What?" Neil slowly regained control of his neck muscles and looked forward with heavy eyelids. "Again... you mean like a third date?" He smiled.

"Well yeah, unless you don't want to of course. So how do you want to do this, half each or pay for what we have?" You asked as Neil politely requested the bill. You put a few notes on the table only for Neil to raise his hand.

"No way, no way. No, no, it's my treat." With slightly greasy fingers he pushed your money back into your hands and sat with a satisfied smile as the plates were whisked away.

"Are you sure? I don't want you to think I just see you as a free meal ticket." You rested your hand over the table, softly setting it on top of his. "I'm more than happy to pay for my own food, really." He brushed away your concerns with a slow, careful head shake.

"Don't worry, I've got it covered. I made sure I asked my dad for a few extra tenners so that I wasn't left short. This one is on me, one hundred percent." Protest as you would Neil would not let you surrender even a single pound towards the bill.

"I hope everything was good for you guys." The curly moustached waiter approached the table with the thin, glossy bill tucked in his fingers.

"What's the damage, don't go easy on me." Neil grinned with a cocky wink.

"So for everything today that will be seventy five pounds, will that be cash or card?" Neil's face dropped but he did what he could to hide his shock from you.

"Cash." He smiled as his hands ran up and down his pockets. "Y/n, did I give you my wallet earlier?" He asked, his eyes darting back and forth.

"No, I don't think so." You peered into your practically empty bag. "Not unless your wallet is a half empty packet of gum or a loose five pence?"

"Ah shit... I must have left it in the cab on the way here. Y/n, do you think you could cover this one?"
