Step Up One Shot

Even though you and Sean had been friends for years, you never would have expected him to treat you how he did.

Everyone in the Mob knew how much time you spent together, they knew how much you meant to each other and they often made comments about how Sean should ask you out.

He never had.

And then he'd met Emily. You were over the moon for him of course as you wanted him to be happy, but you began to get sick of him coming to you every time him and Emily fell out.

You wanted to help him for obvious reasons, you thought Emily was great for him, but it had started to feel as if Sean only wanted you around when he needed someone else.

To you it felt as if you weren't as important as his friend anymore, and whilst you were happy for him and Emily you still wanted your best friend around.

Eddy had noticed how much it was grating on you and so had started to make more of a point of getting you to hang out with him so that you weren't waiting around for Sean to call you.

That evening whilst you and Eddy were hanging out at Ricky's, after having promised Ricky you'd close up, Sean came through the door looking stressed.

"Woah what happened to you?" Eddy questioned as Sean threw his hat on the floor and then all but crumbled to the dancefloor.

Sean didn't answer him, but you exchanged a look with Eddy who nodded in understanding and silently went into the kitchen whilst you went to sit next to Sean.

Even though he'd barely spoken to you you still wanted to make sure he was okay.

"Hey," you whispered as you shifted slightly.

He looked up at you and the unshed tears in his eyes made your heart hurt. "Emily left."

You hated how hurt he was but it also stung to you that he'd only come to you because of Emily again.

"She told me I was holding her back, that she couldn't be with me when I was so attached to here," the words flowed out of him freely. "And I told her I wasn't attached to anything here; I'd go with her if she wanted me to."

Those words felt like a stab in the gut.

"She just shook her head at me and left, I don't know what I did wrong."

Sean looked to you for you to say something, but you were still reeling from his comment. "You told her you weren't attached to anything here?"

Realisation crossed Sean's face as you stood up.

"You'd really just up and leave? Just like that?" you questioned again, your voice rising.

Sean sighed as he stood up too. "I didn't mean it like that Y/N, but Emily was going to leave-"

"So just because she was leaving you you thought you'd disregard everyone you have here?!"

Sean's eyes flickered behind you so you knew Eddy had come out of the back but that didn't stop you.

"You know what Sean, I am so tired of just being your second choice," you stated as much as it hurt you to say so. "I am so done with being the person you come to when you have no other option – I thought I was your best friend but then to hear you'd just up and leave without a thought to any of us! To me!"

You felt Eddy come up behind you and rest a hand on your shoulder. "Come on Y/N."

Shaking Eddy's hand off you looked at Sean with hurt in your eyes and you knew he saw it. "If you're not 'attached' to anything here Sean Asa then I think we no longer have anything to talk about."

You whirled on your heels and walked straight out of Ricky's leaving behind the heartbroken guy that had just shattered your heart too.
